It looks like it won't fit F10 model from the description.

Consider reading the link I attached in my initial response to your post. . The bimmertech mmi plus is compatible with the f10 m5 and incorporates both Apple carplay and android auto.

I was looking at this the other day and put in my VIN to see if it was compatible, and said it would not work (for an F10). Do you have actual experience with this product in an M5?

I entered my VIN and it was compatible. In addition I ended up having a lengthy conversation with their customer service related to the ability to use Android auto and carplay..

I tried VINs from my M5 and 550i, and the M5 is compatible but not the 550i. The difference is the M5 is LCI, so it has NBT, and I suspect that's what you need for this CarPlay.

Sounds pretty good. The previous incarnation had poor integration but this one can use idrive.

Useful as this looks, 525 for the privilege of mirroring the phone display seems decidedly over-priced. Does the touchpad work with this? Does the phone need to be physically wired to the car (i.e. not Bluetooth or wireless)?

Is this the only option available to us?
