As featured on 5post Homepage.
The first confirmed prototype for the next-generation BMW M5 has been spotted testing on the Nürburgring. A thin fabric bra covering the prototype's front fascia can't hide the clear M-style front-bumper design. With BMW M's trademark quad exhaust set-up poking out from the rear bumper, and large, cross-drilled rotors accenting the beefed-up braking system, the prototype has all of the necessary ///M cues. Reports still vary on what engine will power the next M5. Earlier reports spoke of increasing the displacement of today's 5.0-liter V10 to 5.5-liters, perhaps augmented with turbocharging. With the arrival of the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engines in the X5M and X6M, new reports suggest that this engine may be on tap for the next M5 and M6 as well. Now that full-on M5 prototypes are making test runs, the chances of nailing down what's under the hood have gotten much better. |

Is it me or does that look like to could be a carbon fiber roof? Tough to tell but it looks like it has a small seperation along the rooflines like the M3...

It reminds me from the side profile of the last model 750i for some reason... I'm so excited to see this thing unveiled!!!

This car is giong to be something amazing! I know the regular F10 5 series is supposed to debut next spring at Geneva but anyone know when the M5 is supposed to debut?
How long after the regular e60 came out did the e60 M5 come out? |

Whoa! Are those speed nut wheels?
Also looks like they are using a two piece brake rotor and the hat has channels to decrease weight and improve cooling- they are not solid. BMW does use BBS wheels for some ///M models (the current M3 being one of them). I wish I could make out the faces in the car....

I agree with infamous. I am pretty sure those are the BBS FI there new super light weight wheel. 19inches and only 16lbs!!!
V10 please! I wouldn't want the M division to go back on what they said about AMG. "If you have the same engine in every (performance) car you can't have the perfect car." ![]() |

they use BBS and Borbet. Depends on the wheel. You can take your OEM wheel off and see on the spoke from inside which make it is actually.

a cf roof makes no difference....its a nice gimmick, people think it looks cool, but on a car thats gonna way 4000lbs +, I don't think so. I'll take a sun/moonroof

Just making an observation. A sedan with a cf roof is cool none the less. Some people hate sunroof/moonroofs so I would think those people would much rather have a CF roof then a steel roof w/out a sunroof. ![]() |
