KW V3 thoughts needed
Hey all. I have a CP 2014 M5. The ride height is a touch higher than I want but not sure it's worth spending nearly $4k for another 1/2" drop. I don't want the bounciness of installing either the KW HAS or Dinan "Coilovers" nor am I excited about wearing out the factory dampeners prematurely.
So, can someone compared the V3s to the competition package in terms or ride quality, handling, vibrations, harshness, etc.? Especially if I dropped another 1/2" or 3/4" and left the KW at the factory dampening settings? Not interested in dealing with having to adjust them. Another thing, EDC cancellation. I just don't really want a CEL or warning of any kind. I don't mind having it coded or anything, who do ya'll recommend for this? Lastly, who has the best pricing on this setup and what did you all pay for labor? Thanks all! Sachin |

Hello there. I picked my M5 a month ago, KWV3 is next on the list as I need to lower the car by 1" all around without sacrificing ride quality and performance.
I had KWV3 in the past, it rode and performed better than stock. After speaking to other M5 owners who have KWV3, it's still a wise choice. It's true that you can never go wrong with K&W. On EDC, don't buy the K&W EDC modules as they're just resisters which overheat. Just code EDC off and unplug the EDC module wiring connectors. No CEL and no overheating resisters. K&W V3 shouldn't cost more than $2,600 street price. You can do it yourself, DIY thread here: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=628336 Just make sure you torque all bolts to spec. K&W V3 for F10 M5 non-EDC part number 35220097 You're right, HAS and springs are bad ideas. Those who did HAS or springs eventually switch to full coilovers. It's an M car, the only way to improve the ride and performance is with full coilovers.

Yeah I agree you can't go wrong with KW, they are great and BMW uses them as well, as the coilovers in the new M4 GTS are made by KW.
However, make sure you find someone who knows how to adjust them. |

I have the kwv3 on my car. Stock shocks are good. HR are better and Kwv3 are butta. Stock settings are good for normal and aggressive driving. Change out the settings for more spirited driving. Compared to your current setup there is no comparison. kW have smoother rebound/compression. Ride height changes are a plus too. Adjustments are simple also. If you want a brand new set I can get you one brand new for 2300$. Pm me if your interested

It cannot be done on a F10 M5. Buy the modules.

I have KW V3 installed at the same height as the original CP that was replaced. I have no interest in lowering so i cannot comment on the effect of lowering with V3, but yes the ride height is settable during installation.
The stock CP shocks and springs are not good as you will find out. Unfortunately V3 does not have cockpit adjustability but the range of adjustments is very good and you can emphasize comfort or performance when you do set it. The recommended settings are a great starting place and though I've experimented I'm back only 1 click away from the start settings now. The EDC delete package is necessary. Many people like to boast that icoding out can be done but none I've ever seen has actually accomplished it on the F10 M5. Ive had no issues with resistors or overheating. |

Yes I’m sure. I wouldn’t have spent the money on edc delete modules if I didn’t had to.
