many thanks. i tried your suggestion and it worked great. the annoying squeal is gone. recently got a cpo f10 m5 ('14) from bmw encinitas and their inspection report showed the brakes were fine, but after adding 22 inch savini's i'd been getting the dreaded squeal during slow braking on local streets. embarrassing to say the least. glad i found this thread. cheers.

I think I'll try this out too. My rears are squealing like a stock pig. Maybe the cool weather makes it worse. Bump for any others that have had the same issue.

Squealing is a very common issue for our cars. It drove me crazy and went to BMW multiple times and they never fixed the issue. I ended up buying front and rear Carbotech brake pads and squealing is permanently gone. I highly recommend for anyone with non-CCB that experiences squealing.

I do have the CCBs :-/. I tried the wheel cleaner trick (not brake cleaner, would never spray that) the OP referred to and it didn't do anything.

I have the MCCB and used to have CCB on my former Audi RS6 as well as Porsche 911 Turbo S. I have to admit that the MCCB squeals more than the competition, but it's not unbearable. These breaks will squeal if break hard at slow speeds, they are made for high speed deceleration. I drive on the German Autobahn every day and the squealing isn't present after using this setup as intended. If you always Baby these brakes, they will squeal like crazy. Just my experience, I'm still happy about this magnificent option every day

I wouldn't spray anything on CCB's, just to be safe. Best solution for non-ccb's is probably different pads. just my two cents.

squeaky, squealy brakes have dogged my m5 since delivery last august. the car had 12K miles when i took delivery and the vehicle history suggests pads were replaced as part of the cpo process. embarrassing to say the least pulling up to a stop sign or in front of a group of people in a $100K+ car.
this season i focused on everything but brake pads - suspension, engine, aesthetics - because this solution works. note: the product has changed slightly and is now a wheel and tire cleaner in the pink bottle. since others in this thread have asked: i spray a healthy dose on the pads on all four corners as i start my hand wash prep (before i fill buckets, put soap in gun, get hoses and towels ready) and let it set for ~8 minutes. i don't know that there's much magic to how long it stays on but i have found the longer the better in terms of stopping the squeak. it also matters how much you drive and how much the pads scrub. in most cases, i can get a week of quiet braking using this process. silver bullet? not totally but it helps. i will be going with power stop z17s on all four corners next year after the wallet heals a bit more.
