Tire size for stock M5 rims

Hi guys,

I contemplating getting a 2016 M5. I will be getting rid of my 2018 540i xDrive for one. I ended up a second winter/highway vehicle, so I don't care for AWD and all that anymore as much.

I have Michelin winter tires that I had on the 540 and would like to throw on the M5 for occasional driving as well. The tires are 245 35 R20. It's a square set-up. The rims on the M5 are the 20" rims these cars came with and has Carbon Ceramic Brakes as well. Would my winter tires fit the rims of the M5?

Thanks for all the help. I was going to have the winters on the 540 this evening but then I got this idea of swapping the car in my head so I am kind of holding off on that for now, but the sooner someone can help me out the better. Thanks in advance!

245 would generally be too stretched on the front 9" and I would say dangerous on the rear 10" wide wheels. Most shops would not install it as is. I have A/S on my 19s and they are great compromise if you ask me. But then again I'm in SoCal.

I would recommend you look into different size for the rears and just keep the extra pair as backup

I agree. BMW recommends 255 or 265 for winter tires; 245 may be a bit stretched.

Just put 255 winters on and the fronts are fine but the rear are too stretched for me. I'd go 265 on all four if I had do to over . This is on the OEM's. 9 and 10 wide. Bottom pic is the rear.

I'd go with 265/35/20 tires.

Just got these mounted yesterday. 343M wheels on Dunlop Winter Sport 3D.
