Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid (680hp), first reviews

Looks like we've got couple of first reviews in. Pretty crazy how fast it is despite it's 5,100lbs weight. Even a Tesla Model S is lighter at ~4,900lbs. The all electric range isn't bad either. That's a lot of money for a Panamera though.

I can't see BMW producing a Hybrid-Assist M5 in the future with that kind of weight though. BMW would have to use a smaller engine to help keep the weight down on a Hybrid-Assist M5.

I love my P100D though, especially for city or short freeway driving. As a gap shooter or stoplight drag racer it has no equal, except of course, if running into another Tesla.

But since it has no real engine, once the battery overheats and reduced power mode kicks in (doesn't take much, just a few kilometers of hard driving on the freeway will do) a 335i will make you look bad.

This Porsche has the best of both worlds. Yes weight is a problem but it's overrated, this class of car buyers I think most care about comfort/luxuries over weight. Just look at the way both Porsche and MB didn't even bother to make the new Pam (or the new E63 S) lighter than the previous version tells you what they think about this "weight" issue.

Yes sir, excellent points about weight. It's just a different kind of driving. They know their cars weren't meant for the track, so they can care less about weight and lap times. I can respect that. Oh and yes a 335i or a 340i is quite quick these days.

But as usual this car will need Vic levels of funding to acquire. Porsche prices are out of control.
