So i have a big old hole in the bottom of my airboxes. I've read that the block off plates will improve power but what about the snorkel in the newer cars? I want to have my dealer get me one or the other but which is better? Also, has anyone just duct taped the hole closed instead of spending $300 on factory plates? Or riveted on a piece of plastic?

Spool sound maybe better, but using blanking plates is more affective. No heat getting in. Im not sure what water would get it.
Use rpi front scoops and you will get a good flow of air straight to your intakes. function over image and sound anytime. Were dealing with an almost 600bhp engine. Do it right, do it properly. |

These have two functions - to stop you swamping the engine in deep puddles and heavy rain also allow additional air flow.
As I have tested temps, in front of the OEM air filter feed pipes by the radiator, in the air box and in the engine bay, you will gain nothing from blanking them - also turbo cars are not as IAT sensitive as NA cars. Scoops and blanking the air box will do nothing for these engines, changing to a dual cone filter set up will help spool up time and gin some performance once you tune the engine but only in the region of 10 bhp which you won't be able to feel or measure against a stop watch- does get you a bit of turbo spool / induction noise though which might make it worth your investment... |
