Long story short… You can benefit from my OCD. Long story long… I purchased a brand new 2016 ZCP M5 in Houston at the end of February. I traded in my 2013 Dinan M5 and 2012 X6 50i for this vehicle. It was my dream and it was perfect. The night I purchased the vehicle I started noticing the driver’s seat was making a faint “click” when my weight shifted in the seat. I attempted to get the dealer to exchange the vehicle but they insisted I take it to the service center to resolve the issue...and it was soon repaired it. Because it was resolved, the dealer refuses to take the vehicle back. Fair enough, it is fixed but I still want my “perfect” vehicle even if it costs me a few thousand more to get it. I am working with BMW Customer Relations for a resolution but thought I would post the vehicle on the forum just in case anyone wants to take advantage of this without paying the dealer mark-up.

MSRP: $115,885
Following break-in as prescribed.
Options:
Competition Package
Executive Package
Driver Assistance Package
Lighting Package
Black Sapphire Metallic
Black Extended Merino Leather
Aluminum Trim
Bang & Olufsen Sound
Smartphone Integration
Black Kidney Grills
Wheel Locks

Full disclosure: The dealer did put a ¼ inch scratch next to the door seal. It was repaired by the dealer and undetectable. I also had the black side markers and Michelin PSS from my 2013 M5 installed because I did not want the P-Zeros the vehicle came with – they have about 5,000 miles on them. This vehicle is otherwise brand new.

so the seat was making a very faint click, and you wanted the dealer to replace the vehicle? now they fixed it, and all of a sudden you want an e63?

Whoa buddy, whoa. You're trying to pass off damaged goods here. Nobody wants a car that used to make a faint clicking sound but has since been fixed.

I can give you $75k but that's about it. After all, when I sell it a few years down the road I'm going to have to do the right thing, and disclose that the seat once made a faint clicking sound, per the prior owner. And then it was totally fixed by BMW. That's pretty much the same as a salvage/branded title right there. Yup.

So you're saying there's a chance...

All jokes aside, this same dealer caught my previous X6 on fire a few years ago so BMW is working with me on a buy-back here as it's one more annoying experience with this dealer (albeit this a relatively minor issue). Just giving folks a chance to buy it before BMW turns it back to the market with a markup.

The M5 rattles everywhere. My F80 M3 and F85 X5M are more refined. I gave up on trying to fix the rattles. First was the rear view mirror, then the center console, the doors, and then the seats. Now my passenger airbag under the dash is rattling. My brakes squeal like a freight train, wish I have CCBs.

If you want a rattle free car, get an i8 or Tesla. I guess Merc don't rattle?. Otherwise just crank up the music or get a muffler bypass exhaust.

Just give up on BMW's. Seriously.. if you're that picky about the car, maybe BMWs aren't meant for you.

Not sure of the exact part they replaced but I know they had to remove the seat from the car to get to it...which is how they ended up scratching it.

Not the end of the world and I'm sure they can fix yours pretty quick if you take it in. Only hang up on mine was that it was new and I'd like it to be without issues when I pull it off the lot.
