No problem this morning, made it's morning roar, and nabours looked pissed, so everything is in harmony again 😁

I think I was a physocoacoustic ting that made the car seem less loud yesterday, normally it's parked in my garage and that exacerbate the sound a lot, and parked in the free on a hill, just make it sound less loud

Is there a reason to delete the cold start routine? I know folks did the same for the E60 M5s but not sure why.

Cold start is not a feature to "warm up the engine" like some people think. It's there for the catalytic converters.

So those who do catless downpipes technically don't need this feature. Some of these people don't like the loud start or bothering their neighbors early in the morning, especially with the louder catless exhaust, so they code it out. We don't realize how loud cold start really is when sitting in the car. Trust me, your neighbors can hear it.

Then there's jerkies like me who like to start the car with authority. Lol. I like the cold start.

I love cold start.

So I opened my valves all the time.

Is there any detrimental effect to the cats or emission system by doing this? How do you keep it open all the time - coding or did you mechanically change something?

If you have the comp pack, we have thesame exhaust.
It does not affect cats or emission, there is a valve between exhaust tips that open due to pressure.

Just get a zip tie(thick one), grab a hinge between the tip and you will see looking at the tips a valve that opens and closes. I just sat behind the tips and grabbed it and zip tied it.

Love the bubbles when you press the gas even slightly.

Yeah I like it too, especially when starting in the parking garage after work.

Coded mine out as I hated the loud cold start, much happier now.
Only there to heat the catalytic converters faster to quicker get within emissions spec.

Why would you need to force the exhaust valves open? I just put it in sport or sport+ and that opens the valves.
I like the option to be in "quiet mode" when in efficient.

Putting it in sport or sport plus doesnt open it. It opens only when you reach the right rpm.

I can hear it's opening at 4000rpm in efficient, but as soon as I enter Sport or Sport+ the sound change straight away, regardless of rpm.

Maybe a Euro/US difference? mine is a Euro -14 Competition Pack with the latest available software.

I control the flap openings with a remote control, they stay closed while engine warms for a few minutes to heat the cats quick then I open them up and they stay opened for the drive.
If I want the car to be quiet as I do on one particular street then I press and it goes into quiet mode..just like on Kitt

I’ve read elsewhere that the cold start delete interferes with the O2 and Evap sensor monitoring… does anyone know if that’s actually true?

Emissions testing would likely fail in states that require these monitors to be ‘ready.’

That’s false. It doesn’t affect anything except warm up your cats a little faster and get more oil up to the cylinder heads.
