How much does it typically cost to replace spark plugs (F10 M5)?

My dealer wants to charge $900 for parts and labor. Cost of 8 plugs is $300 so basically $600 in labor.

UPDATE:
A local performance shop that works on exotics too did it for $480 (parts and labor). Since I don't like to work on cars, I think it was a fair price especially compared to dealer quote of $900. F that!!

Can you not do it yourself..it's only moving things out the way to get to the plugs. My eight bosch plugs cost equivalent of 100 dollars,£82 inc postage.

Theres a lot of getting ripped off on this forum I'm afraid and on a much bigger scale than this, but I always get criticised for bringing it up.
As mentioned this is a max 2 hour job if you've never done them before.

I changed my plugs myself using the kit from ECS tuning. Cost for parts until the tools was $285 Dollars. Took my time and didn't rush. Including talking on the phone and eating, total time was 2 hours.

Did you replace them with battery still connected and did anything need re-coding.

I did not disconnect the battery and no coding was required. Although I'm tuned, I stayed with the stock gap. The only hiccup I ran into were two cylinders misfired upon starting as you have to ensure the coil packs snap in place.

I got the following quotes:
Peter Pan BMW in San Mateo, CA: $1300
Local General Shop in San Mateo, CA: $700 to $900
I did it myself.

Its not hard, but does require basic tools, mechanical know how, and patience. If you dont work on cars a lot, id give yourself 3 hours.

I would check with Palo Alto Bimmer and definitely never go to a Bay Area dealer for something like maintenance. Of course they will charge too much.

I did it myself and it was 3.5 hours on my LCI. It was the most difficult spark plug change of any car I've ever owned and I did not enjoy this job at all. Next time, if I still own this car, I'll have the shop do it.

On its sister F10 550, this is an easy fun job by contrast.

I'm curious what made it difficult, I've done a few spark plug jobs on my n55 (3-series) engines and they were a pain in the azz because you couldn't easily get to the back plugs (had to use an elbow wrench attachment). That, and the fact that you had to remove so much plastic on the top of the engine made those jobs very time consuming.
