Akrapovic Exhaust Valve Rattle-Proper Fix
Hello there everyone,
So the other day I made a thread looking for an exhaust and eventually decided to buy Hope's Akrapovic. First impression were good, like the sound, the transaction was smooth, Hope kept me uptodate. We met in Manchester at his mates garage and swapped the exhausts from one car to the other. This took place on Tuesday. Tomorrow my old stock exhaust is being picked up through shiply and brought back to me. Anyhoo, yesterday my wife noticed a rattling sound coming from the back and low & behold it was the valve issue, the driver's side flap was too loose and it was rattling. Looked everywhere here and on the web, could not find a fix, everyone was talking about either fixing it through the warranty or strip wiring the valve permanently open. At that point I contacted Hope to give him his exhaust back and that is where things started going south. He would not acknowledge the fault and would not accept a return, he also refused to give me his BMW fitment receipt which he had promised to send over ever since I bought the exhaust which I thought was a bit fishy as he had a picture of the receipt on his phone and put it on a message to send it to me right in front of me but then decided to "scan it when he gets home". I am still waiting for that receipt. He did however promise to contact BMW and Akrapovic and try to get them to fix it under warranty. Needless to say I could not sleep last night so kept on working on my car to fix that issue and thankfully I did. Here is the proper fix and hopefully that will help others with the same issue. |

A quick tip for you mate, don't put your tools on the car, it is not a work bench and you will scratch the paint.
Great video though, very simple fix, I'm shocked that people are replacing exhausts for this. It won't be a problem for me though, i can't afford and akrapovic. Thanks for sharing. |

Yeap thought about that later, it was a nervous move to put them there while I was holding the camera for the first time ever. Felt upset about it later. Quote:

I'm going to try this fix as well. Can it still be done with the bumper on and the AKRA tips on? I'll try to remove the tips to see if I can get better access to it.

I'm having a similar issue with my akrapovic vacuum valve also. This is the one I found from your picture. Product number is correct, 7.22151.18!! But last 6 digits with T in the middle is different. https://www.powersprint24.de/unterdruckdose-905674.html |

OK I solved my rattle problem.
I basically unplugged the rubber line, plugged it with a golf tee, ziptied it, and tucked it away. Then I forced the valve to be open with another ziptie. And now it doesn't rattle at 1800rpm on liftoff. |

Got it!

I'm not sure if you already have tried the new valve... but I finally got one from Design911 (https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod1...urce=doofinder) Which is not the original parts for Porsche, but the OEM one which gives much less price. Anyway, I took the original Akra valve today and compared those two, and those are ALMOST identical (only mm different on 3 bolts which are for the mounting) I will post another one with actual measurement! |

I was too lazy to take a measurement… but I did install it today to replace the faulty one, and it fit perfectly with no trouble! So if your akra valve ever goes bad, this might be the solution. |
