What depth to replace tires?
At 13309 miles. Rears are at 4/32 and fronts at 6/32. Obviously a new tire is 10/32.
Should I replace them now or wait a bit more?

6/32 is fine... 4/32 on the rears I usually replace as the tires have no traction anymore taking off and when raining

Traction in the wet
I would agree that 4/32 is about the right depth to order new tyres....you could push it another 1/32 but you'll notice diminished grip and you do run more risk of aquaplaning so why would you?
High performance car tyres do need a little extra care and attention and this is one place it usually goes....that and premium brand tyres |

If you drive like you have stolen your car (I don't think you drive like this) then 4/32 is the time you need to replace the tire. As far as the tread depth of new tire, 295/30/20 (BMW) is 9/32" but 295/30/20 (MB) is 10/32"

Also the tire warranty is 30k miles, so if I replace my tires at 4/32 with 13300 miles, can I get a prorated refund on the factory tires?

As far as the tire warranty, that warranty is about defective part (tire). 13000 mile on a tire which is already worn is considered tear and wear and not warranty.

Probably the MB car is using this tire is AWD too. Trust me I test drove both C63s and AMG GTS. None of them are tail happy like my M6... BMW M is a fun car to drive because of many things including the suspension.

I just replaced mine with 3/32 left on the rears at 19k miles (stock MPSS). No surprise, but huge difference in traction. Fronts almost had some cord showing on the inner aspect of the tire, so I'd recommend checking wear patterns to see if alignment is necessary as well.

Rear will need to be change as well Coming from a tire guy. If u have power set already 6/32 will light up tires Always good to replace at 5/32 on the set. Then if u have lease car, keep those. And put them back on when time for return. |
