Going back to OP, I hope my comments on the E63 aren't too harsh.

I agree with you. I had a ML63 AMG for a couple of years and ended up really disliking it. AMGs sound pretty aggressive (with the start-up roar you noted) and are quite fast from a standing stop especially with AWD. I also like their implementation of the surround view since it also has a front camera - something I wish the BMW version had as well.

However, you are right on the mark about the styling, ride and handling. The ML63 was either sloppy or so firm as to rattle your teeth. My wife hated riding in it. It also had the column mounted shifter that was really a pain in the neck. The COMAND system was very old fashioned and required too much navigating menus to do simple things like making a phone call. I test drove the E63 AMG and thought the seats would be annoying. I don't mind the back of the car but the front looks like someone wearing too much make-up.

I have had my AMG experience and have put it behind me. I will say though that the ML63 got more attention than any other car that I have owned - I got more questions and kudos for that car than either of my Ms or our Cayenne GTS. Not a good or bad thing but I was surprised by the attention it got.

No, I owned 2 before I turned 30 and they were both Z06's. I'm partial to the C6 Z06 or ZR1 as I have not warmed up to the C7 yet. Eventually I will have another one in my garage as I have a soft spot for American muscle. Plus a Vette will compliment his little brother, my 1969 Camaro.

Eric, I had a 69 Camaro back in the day. I think they are still beautiful today - Not to stray too far from the thread but it would be cool to see some pictures of your 69 Camaro SS if you have any.

I went to have a look at this car before ordering my Jaguar F-Type R.

In the end the reasons I didn't order the Z06 are:

1) It's too low to comfortably get in and out off. Feels like your'e sitting on the floor. In addition there is no way I could see my beautiful lady getting in and out of this car properly in a dress (she told me so).

2) The GM steering wheel is so ugly it reminds me that it came from the same company that designed the Aztek. There are similar cheap fittings in and around the car (though to GM's credit most of it is much higher quality than one would expect of a GM).

3) At the margins I would rather have something more beautiful and polished, than something a bit faster. I mean it's not like the R Coupe is slow.

Of course. Can't carry 4 people in a Jag. M5 stays till the next gen CLS63 is out.

Dave I will track some down but maybe these links will do for now. The car is currently getting redone with a BBC and twin 80mm turbos.

The Cayenne GTS is great. Handles like more like a sedan than a SUV. Get's decent gas mileage (for an SUV) and sounds and looks great. It's smaller than a X5 or ML in the back so just make sure that it is big enough for your needs.

Our M5's are twins.

you have the Burmester? My wife just got a new X5 diesel. It's our 4th X5 in 7 years and we love them. The new one is amazing. I am just thinking about new vehicles 2 years down the road when my M5 lease ends. Never too early

Sorry to threadjack....

We don't have the Burmester- conscious decision as this is my wife's car and she listens to the radio (NPR) so she doesn't car. I have heard the Burmester and it sounds very clear but given the pricing of various Porsche options one has to draw the line somewhere or you can easily double the price of the car.

We had 2 X5's and loved them. The ML63 experiment (back to the OP) was a failure and then we ended in the Cayenne GTS. The GTS sounds great and drives better than the X5 (which we also liked) but the cargo area is significantly smaller. However, the GTS is also much more expensive than a X5.

ive seen the new corvette on the streets. its hard not to, the streets are literally becoming littered with them. yellow ones, white ones, black ones...

they look so over designed and cartoon like. its ridiculous. they tried to make it look like a supercar but failed miserably.

they literally look like a concept car. and thats not a compliment.

saw them run at the drag strip too. slow as shit.

i think one actually got beat by a stock f-150.

13's. none broke into the 12's.

of course this is not the new z06 but the base corvette.

people are buying them up left right and center, and before anyone knows it, they'll be more common than a damn camaro.

have it if you want, and im sure the z06 will be very fast, (and come with even more tacked on, bling'd out nonsense) but theres such a thing as sophistication. and this thing doesnt have it.

well if you havent already secured a spot for a gt3 its most likely too late now. as dealers arent taking anymore deposits, as far as i know.

thats it for the 991 gt3. no more 2014's or 2015's.

but if you do, i assure the car is absolutely sublime. the noise it makes ascending towards 9000 rpm is really a different experience. and that alone is worth the extra $50k. heck, for me that alone is worth the entire price of the car. just the sound of that engine. its the most ridiculous, angriest, barking mad sound ive ever heard. i cant see ever growing tired of it. you literally feel like youre living inside "need for speed: most wanted".

will the z06 outperform it in some areas? yeah maybe.

but i can guarantee you one thing, it wont sound half as good, it wont get the looks, (at least not the envious ones) and you'll probably see 20 corvettes for every gt3.

Corvettes HAVE always been a great car. BUt now they finally have a good suspension. The e63 has fake quad exhaust its only one exhaust on each side with the quad actually just being the bumper where I could put my fingers through the back of it.
