Hi guys
I have been reading quite a few horror stories of late, from people who have had catastrophic engine failures.
From spun rod bearings, to bent rods right through to big gaping holes through the block.
This makes me wonder, how many problem-free high mileage
F10 M5 are there that obviously still has their original engine?
How many people have had their engines replaced due to failure?

Take it with a grain of salt.

People who grenade their motors are (mostly) playing with unsafe tunes and power levels that are way out of scope for what the platform was designed to handle.

It happens on every forum. For the amount of blown motors there are hundreds if not thousands of M5's running without a hiccup.

The S63tu is a very reliable motor. I have 75,000 miles on my M5 and plan on keeping it well past 100,000 miles. Just keep up on regular maintenance service intervals and keep an eye on your oil consumption (if you have any) and you should be good. There are other members on here who have over 100,000 miles on their M5 and they're still going strong.

38k miles. Have her for 4 years. Replaced AC condenser under warranty and currently has coolant lines leaking (from top under engine cover). That's a common problem. It's going to dealership Friday. Otherwise zero issues.

there is already another thread on this. I'm tired and won't elaborate. search button will assist you. but over got 129k plus on my heavy modes 13m5. no issues to report.

About 88,000 miles now.

Leaky turbo coolant lines as others have mentioned. $50 diy repair. Just had the engine inspected.. everything reported as solid.

My in-tank fuel pump failed at 70k miles. Weird.

BMW just extended the warranty on the high pressure fuel pumps to 10 years or 120,000 miles. That seems to be the known flaw.

Forums have always been and will always be a bitch fest for people who do bad things to their cars to come and get consoled for doing such. For every 10-15 m5's that blow their engine, there are thousands more running happily throughout the United States and the rest of the world.
