MSDs and Sales Tax

Sorry for flooding this forum with lease questions. Just trying to understand all the moving parts.

Question 1:

Assuming you put down max MSDs, the MF decreases and in-turn the rent charge also decreases.

Since you pay sales tax on the total rent charge, does putting MSDs down also decrease the sales tax you pay?

Question 2:

If I currently lease a car, and trade it to the dealer assuming the trade price is exactly the lease payoff, does anyone know if I get the trade-in sales tax benefit on the new leased car?

Example - I traded a car I owned outright when we purchased my wife's current car. Because I did so, there was no sales tax added to our lease payment because the trade value exceeded the total lease fee.

Has anyone run into this scenario trading out of a current lease?

Thanks again for any help.
