How to play movies/videos from iPhone?

I've coded my car to allow video in motion but not sure how to play movies I have on my iPhone 5s. Is it possible? Do I use the standard cable?

It depends on the iphone. Before lighting cable (old connector) supported video out. From what I understand the lighting connector does not. I could play video with my 4s in my precious car with the snap in adapter but not with the 5s

If I had known this at the time I would have probably kept the 4 and adapter and just left it in the car all the time for music and video
