BMW Performance Center Delivery Scheduling

Hey - I just got word that even though my car is built, BMW can not schedule my Performance Center delivery because of the M5 not being EPA and CARB certified. What do you guys know about this?

My CA told me that the PCD wont schedule delivery until the car clears customs and goes through the VPC. From what he said the PCD doesnt have the bandwidth to do deliveries like Munich. This is what I was told so dont know this to be true. This is one of the reasons I chose not to do PCD after ED. Dont want to wait an additional six weeks after it makes it into the US.

How long did they tell you it would take for it to be shipped to port after your ED?

That's correct. Performance Center won't issue appointment until car is released to carrier.

The important thing is to make sure your CA put in the reservation months ago. That gets you on waitlist, and longer you are waitlisted, the higher priority you will have when car is released. Normally you will get a place within 1-2 weeks if you have a good place in waitlist (i.e. your reservation was made before others).

I was told my dealer should have the car in four weeks from the time I drop it off in Germany. I am on the East Coast so if your port of entry is on the West Coast it could add up to two additional weeks of transit for a total of six weeks from drop off in Europe.
