F10 M5 Running rich 118011

Hello everyone.

So recently bought this M5 and I have EML light coming on with code:
118011 Mixture control, Across bank mixture too Rich.

Car seems to drive fine no misfires, might be a little low on power but not sure as haven't driven any other ones.

have done the following recently trying to fix it.
New spark plugs, new air filters, new pcv vent hoses. Did a smoke test but didn't find any leaks in intake system.

Also it's kinda high mileage 120k miles.

If anyone could help would help would highly appreciate it.

Do you have stock or aftermarket intakes? I had that code with aftermarket intakes which went away when I went back to stock.

Yep. Same EU5 injectors I’m going to replace. Have it diagnosed by professionals to make sure. Sometimes aftermarket intake could cause it as well

lol my local dealer quoted 500 cad each which is absolutely crazy. Yes, you can buy it directly from Bosch retailer. I bought mine from fcp at 100 usd each.

is there any way to diagnose it that it's definitely leaky injectors?

From my knowledge, no. My friend at shop looked at the some pressure data and got conclusion.
Or mechanically you just pull injection rail out and do a test. I don’t bother do this cuz the labor costs too much to diagnose

I guess I'll just order all new ones since they aren't too expensive and have them replaced.

My car got same code pop up after replacing injectors. It turned out to be adaptation. My buddy cleared adaptation and swapped both ecu on the left and right to debug. Now ive been running for over 2000 kms without cel light.

had my friend to clear adaptation on the ecu as well ran fine for 200km now it's back the same. engine light on cutting out when hot. ((((

Another thing I've noticed there's vacuum in the engine when you open the oil cap it's being sucked back on.

My CEL came back a few days ago for running rich (again....!) So probably we have the same problem. It ran fine for over 3000km but now it’s back. Now I suspect it has something to do with my tune cuz I just flashed stage 1 not long ago. I’m now running stock to see if CEL comes back or not.
I have decat downpipe and it has 90000km on the clock.
what’s your mod and mileage?

I'm not sure if my one was mapped or not since i got it from the auction, but i'm going to bring it now to do a software update on the whole car so it will make the map go to stock.

high mileage on mine 200k km no mods as far as i can see except for back box delete. can you check on your car when it's running is there vacuum under the oil cap being built up?

didnt have chance to have a vacuum test. but i got something else poped up this morning. the engine died soon after cold start and "drivetrain malfunction" appeared on the screen. i soon scanned the code and got:
119508 Rail Pressure Sensor 2, Plausibility: Pressure Too Low Before Engine Startup (*note: this one triggers CEL and DTML)
118011 Mixture control, Across bank mixture too Rich. (*note: the milege of this code shows it was actually before i started the engine and it didnt trigger CEL)

I did some research on code 119508. Now I highly suspect my HPFP goes bad. here is what bmw says about this code:
Name: Fault Information - BMWFaultCodes.png
Views: 6221
Size: 21.1 KBName: Fault Information - BMWFaultCodes1.png
Views: 6318
Size: 17.6 KB
mixture problem could be caused by hpfp and I actually have idle problem from time to time (feel vibration at traffic light)
Im gonna order a pair of hpfp and see if all these problems will be solved.

I know in the US the fuel system is on a 10 year 120K mile extended coverage. Might want to talk to your local dealer.

Hi guys! I just got a CEL code 118011 running rich. Has anyone found how to get rid of it? I have couple of mods on it. Stage 2 bootmod3 project gamm downpipes and vrsf charge pipe. I cleared the code and turned it back to stock but it’s still no good. I thought I was having a battery issue do to the car shutting off. After replacement of battery the car isn’t shutting off but now idle rough and RPM’s drop.
