My experience in my E60 M5 and e92 M3 has always been that an indicated speed of 270 km/h is actually 250 km/h.

Page 16 of the F10 M5's brochure seems to confirm this.

It's 'officially' limited to 250kph. However, M models are allowed to go a bit faster than AG models and the indicated speed of 270kph is in the ballpark of real 256-258kph.
