Transmission Cooling Kit

Has anyone on this forum ever had any issues related with SSP’s transmission cooling system? Two days ago, I had drivetrain malfunction and according to BMW dealership an extra line is causing transmission failure. Dealership didn’t specify whether an extra fluid line, or power line that’s causing this problem, but they are certain that’s what it is. Please advise. Thanks

Thus far no issues from me. However, the dealer will focus on any aftermarket part as the reason.

Don't see any issues with the extra fluid as long as it's clean and everything was installed correctly.

I assume you have the whole cooling kit? Where do you have the switch for the fan? I would investigate the install for that

It was installed by an approved shop, and I have not used my cooling system since install. BMW tech was able to read out the codes, but every time he clears it and attempts to start TCU adoption the codes would pop back up again during the process with an error message “clear codes before beginning flashing”, or something like that. For now they are trying to figure out what causing this issue of not able to initiate adoption process.

I have installed a few cooling kits from SSP with their DCT clutches.
Never experienced this issue myself
But, I have experienced gear-rod shift codes due to other influences
BMW is always going to blame the aftermarket parts unfortunately
Based on your codes I assume they can not complete adaptation
How long was the system installed before you started getting the warning message ?

After installation of transmission and other SSP product my first gear immediately started acting up. Failure happened around 1000 miles.

You are correct regarding adoption process. Do you mind sharing cause of your gear rod shift failure? What was the solution?

Thanks

Are you using the performance filter ?
Can you confirm that you were able to complete ALL the adaptation learning procedures correctly before driving ?
I have experienced issues with the performance filter during adaptation only.
I installed the OEM filter and completed adaptation and then removed and installed the performance filter

I am involved in various posts on the on this forum page regarding gear rod issues. Lots of good reading from a few member's with this issue currently.
I am hopefully at the tail end of our current one hopefully, will know once new parts arrive and I can continue my post there

There are a few possibilities
The snap rings could of been mixed up.
Was the overall stack height measured to confirm correct height ?
There are steps labeled in the installation instructions for that.
Might want to remove the trans and perform another inspection depending on the fault codes and what the trans is exactly doing malfunction wise

The shop that installed ssp parts was recommended by ssp. This shop has been installing these kids for many years. However, I did told them about filter causing issue with adoption, so they were a bit surprised about that. Again, I appreciate your advise, hopefully first tip that you provided will solve this problem.

The SSP filter caused my trans to fail adaptation. We left it out and back to OEM and everything went smoothly. I only did the SSP spec R clutches though; no cooling kit.
