Protection film for the i8
Gave the guy that does my clearbra a heads up on the i8. Says he'll be checking to see if/when 3M adds it to the database for cutouts. He thinks they should have a pattern out by the end of Sept when my order arrives but may have to do it custom if they don't. Initial plan is full coverage like I did the with SLS. The peace of mind that comes with the full coverage is priceless. I've put 22k miles on the SLS and there's not a single scratch, swirl mark, ding, paint chip, etc. anywhere. Highly recommend.
I think he really wants a pattern to show up because a custom application on the i8 looks like it would take two days with all the odd angles, flying buttress, etc. |

Are you going with ventureshield or xpel. Both are owned by 3M?

He uses Scotchguard. It's more buffable and tends to appear newer longer and is still tests as the most durable. The MAJOR downsides are that it's more expensive and takes EXPERT application. The guy I use has done almost every "supercar" in central VA. Carrera GTs, MP4-12Cs, 650S, 458s, F12s, Aventadors, etc. I have to tell people it has film on it for them to notice. He got back to me again saying that most of the odd surfaces probably won't be a problem but if they don't come out with a pattern, he and I are going to take a walkaround and go over what is feasible to cover. I'll likely leave the "frosted" blue accents uncovered for obvious reasons.
