Carbon brakes aren't covered by BMW's four-year maintenance plan

This may be old news to some of you on here, but it's new news to me. I'm now canceling my carbon brake order. Frustrating.

"It should also be noted that BMW's four-year maintenance plan covers replacement rotors and pads, but it will not cover the carbon option. So at $8,000 for the upgrade and about $2,000 per corner for replacement rotors that's something to be considered."

Interesting, but I'd rather hear this from BMW.

Maybe you should call your dealer and verify it then.

I don't care, I'm not ordering CCB. Maybe someone ordering CCB who thinks this is true should call BMW since it affects them. You know, instead of taking the word of a magazine.

Oh, I see. No carbon for you. Then maybe you shouldn't have bothered replying in the first place.

Also, I already called the dealer. You know, to cancel the order and all. Confirmed.

See, you should have said that in the first place. You do realize that everyone here was under the impression that the 4-year plan covered the CCBs?

If you have word from BMW that is not the case, you should have come straight out and said it instead of using jalopnik as your reference.

Just giving friendly advice.

I have ccb and to be honest don't care if they cover or not. However, the dealers all conflict each other on coverage and there is no clarity on this issue from BMW corporate directly to the consumer. Until then it is all speculation and conjecture.

Exactly why I posted the thread! To share information. You're starting to catch on now. Good for you.

Jalopnik was used as the reference so people could click the link and read it for themselves. That's how car forums work...you share links for reference. Of course I also followed up with what my dealer told me after I spoke with them. Your advice might be friendly, but it's not sound.

Look champ, if you came out in your original post and said you called BMW and confirmed what was in the magazine, we wouldn't be having this discussion, but you didn't. Instead, you acted like you solely acted on what was written in an article.

Hence, why my first post in this thread. And now, I was able to extract more clarifying information from you, and more important information.

So you're welcome.

Are you sure this is the case? This was the case for the first year they were available, and the maintenance contract specifically excluded them. That exclusion language is no longer in the contract, so on what grounds would they deny coverage?

Or, if you had simply kept your nose out of a thread that you admit has absolutely nothing to do with you ("I don't care, I'm not ordering CCB")...we wouldn't be having this discussion. Champ.

I was actually on the phone with the dealer canceling my order when you posted your sarcastic reply. That's why I said you should call your dealer and ask them for yourself if you doubted the article, because I already knew what they were going to tell you. Thus far, the only thing you have extracted from me is my annoyance.

Someone sure has their panties in a bunch. Tell you what exxtreme!, put the can of Red Bull down, take a deep breath, and realize this is an internet car forum.

You know, you could have waited 5 minutes until after your phone call to make a new thread. Or, edited your original post with amplifying information.

All extremely difficult and challenging choices, I know.

Nope. Not sure. I only have a single dealer and a online magazine to refer to. If you guys want the CCBs, I recommend you call your local dealers and verify with them, just as I recommended to "champ" earlier.

let the ballars be ballars... obviosly when they choose 8k option on a brake system, they dont mind dollar figures. with right pads n fluids, stock steel rotors do just fine even in extreme conditions. so if you aint ballar, dont get it lol

I'm sure you realize this would be a BMW wide thing and not dealer to dealer specific.

Exactly, there is no proof this is a BMW wide stance and shouldn't effect other people's decision.

Lol, yet you're the one name-calling like a child ("champ", "sally", "exxtreme"). Amazing.

Based on what's been posted in this thread thus far, it's fairly clear that you don't know enough to determine what's bogus or not, so it's probably best that you mind your own business in the future.

Wrong. The fact that there is confusion among dealers and also a Jalopnik article that references it, means that potential CCB owners should absolutely take this seriously enough to contact their dealers (as I already stated earlier) in order to find out their stance on it. Your above recommendation against doing this is rather, well, stupid.
