Vanity Light Fuse Passanger Restraint System Issue

Hello, I am having the exact same issue as 'Eliottdds' posted a few years ago and hoping that someone can help!

This was the post:

Hey guys -

I realize this is probably in the wrong forum - so mods please move if needed.

I finally got around to installing the LED interior light kit from ECS tuning - looks great. The trim removal kit, for me, was a god send, & something I can always use in the future.

The install all went without incident, until the end. I was installing the LAST LED bulb in the passenger vanity mirror, when my small metal screwdriver clipped a contact. A small spark was seen, and no more vanity lights. Yes, I realize I should have taken out the entire assembly to place the bulb - I did do with all the others......but what's done is done.

Everything is working great, all the interior lights, maps, puddle, footwell, glovebox, works fine. I am assuming I just knocked out a fuse.

Reading the manual, I know there are 2 fuse boxes.

I am hoping someone knows the exact location for this fuse. There is a piece of paper located in the trunk box, but it really doesn't give me an exact location, or what fuse it could possibly be.

Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Correction - after starting the car, I now see a warning light - Passenger restraint system malfunction - ?????

all from a stupid vanity light bulb - it is heading in Tuesday for it's 1200 mile service

might be easier to just ask the dealer since you are in anyways?

I'd say check fuses 5, 13, 16, 48 and 66. Looks like these are coded for lights.

That comment was from the previous post as I mentioned at the top.

Same thing happened to me. It was my fault though. I brought it in and they replaced the motherboard that controls all the sunroof and upper lights no questions asked

I am looking to do this mod. Any advice to avoid these types of problems?

I was thinking of simply disconnecting the battery before starting and then realized the bulbs are polarity sensitive and could be 180 degrees off...

Just make sure you disconnect the light completely when installing the bulbs, removing and reinstalling the heat shields. Any metal contact will blow the fuses. And good luck finding a good fuse diagram. The one in the car is useless and I couldn't find a good one online.

Had the same problem on the first post.

Had to replace the number 8 fuse which is 7.5 Amps located on the glove box.

Used ISTA+ to clear the errors.

It's all good now.

Most likely your slip-ring (item that provides connectivity between Air Bag and the rest of the harness while steering wheel can still turn) either got disconnected or wires broke off. You do need to take it to a dealer to have it checked and replaced defective parts myprepaidcenter
