Journal: M5 Guy's 2016 Space Gray
Aloha Guys,
I wanted to start a journal to document my upcoming build. I traded in my e60 over the weekend for this f10. The e60 was and still is awesome, but my paranoia was at an all time high with her. The recent spike in vanos solenoids from 350 to almost 2k a pop put me over the edge. As such it was time to move on. The space ship: 2016 Space Gray on full black leather w/ aluminum trim Competition Package Executive Package Driver Assistance Package Cell Phone Integration B&O Sound Mperformance Kidney Grills I plan to start the mods soon. Want to get the rest of the X5M and e60 M5 parts sold first. Hopefully soon...

Awesome, future congrats to you! SG is definitely growing on me. Normally I like color, but this space ship action is definitely cool. Nope, not going to black out the wheels. I do not like black wheels in general. The only time imo that it looks good is on white. Will be going with a classy brushed finish on whatever wheel I decide on.

Thanks! Yeah the S85 will always have a special place in my soul. Awesome engine is awesome, but the maintenance costs were starting to get ridiculous. I decided to make the move when she was still in peak condition than when she was broke down and limping.

Now for the M5 market I have not done enough research yet to come to a conclusion. Seems like flashing is available now so that will probably be the path I take. Having no cold start and cat check off will make getting an Eisenmann race and ams catted much more livable. That's my current plan anyway... |

Thank you sir! The build on this one should hopefully be awesome. Already in the planning stages. I want to sell the parts off my previous builds first though. Hopefully they sell soon so I can start on this one.

Great looking ride(s) man. I gotta ask though, where the hell do you get to scratch the itch to drive over 45 mph over there?
Every island I have been on over there I have had trouble stretching the legs of a rental prius due to traffic/cops/etc |

Yeah it can be rather sloooooooooooow at times. Basically you just need to know when and what roads to go on. I drive H3 daily, and take the Pali, and 13 turns a few times a week at the 6-7 am hour here so there is space to do it. Its more of an acceleration factor over top speed here. |

Big things from small beginnings time. Took care of a couple essentials last night. Gloss black fender grills from IND and debadged the trunk. I had the entire grill done in gloss black as I really can't handle matte anything on a car. Drives me crazy. Plus the mperformance kidney grills are gloss black now so I needed to tie the fenders in with them and the window trim.
Debadging is just something I have always done. It does not look clean to me with a badge in the corner. I have a M5 license plate on order though as I'm not opposed to the badging, just the placement. This way it will be nice and centered below the roundel and everything will flow. Yes way too much thought goes into the little things, but the little things are what makes a build imo. Before: IND: The only tools I used. The fork to pry and the slab to decompress one tab. After one tab is free you can literally just pull the whole grill out. Super easy. 1. 2. 3. Debadged with a horrible pic. Super easy. Use a hair dryer on it for a bit to loosen adhesive. Take one of the tools from above and pry a corner up. Then just pull off the badge. Use hairdryer again after to make the adhesive tape come right off. Couldn't be easier. Now on an older car it would probably be a bit of a pain, but on a new car it is cake. |
