Impressive stuff. When talking to my insurance company about switching from my MINI Cooper 5 Door to the X3, I'm getting a significant deduction. She said it was due to the safety ratings.

Good post. Appears safe and the base non X line looks good.

Interesting post. When I switched to the M40i on my insurance, the price actually went down $40 over 12 months from my F25.

Interesting my insurance went up over my 2016 340i. Also the X3 M40i is about 30% more to insure than my fully loaded 2016 X3 35i. The sticker was only a few thousand different.

My wife’s 2015 Toyota Sienna AWD is about 50% more expensive to insure than my new X3 M40i with the same coverage.
Some of that might be safety features, but I get the impression that it’s more about stats. I think they combine the driver info and the car info and determine the odds of having a costly accident. That’s why an older man driving a 200k sports car can pay less than a college student driving a sedan. All else equal, there’s usually a horsepower “tax” and an SUV/TRUCK/AWD “tax” comparing cars. |

My insurance went up $12 per 6 months.. I went from a 2015 X3 35i to a 2018 X3 M40i. Both have the same discounts, including new car discount, etc. Because of this I am taking an online defensive driver course as the last remaining discount I do not have - to save over $90 per 6 months.

My six months insurance went up $450 from $1,000 to $1,450 for a M3 plus replacing a X1 with a X3. Progressive didn't have the 30i in their database so I had to do a stated value. I'm hoping connect with them in a few weeks to see if they can run it again. I don't know if the safety features helped or hurt the rating or if they even know with the VIN.

That’s a pretty crazy high rate! You hopefully have great coverage and low deductibles. |
