Height of tow hitch

Could someone with a factory 3AC hitch on a G01 measure from the center (of the 2" square) to the ground.
Hopefully on level ground and let me know what you have... 30i, M40, Adaptive M Suspension Y/N, and tire size?

Also if you use an electric brake controller.
I'm looking at this one... https://www.etrailer.com/p-90250.htm...roductdetails=

This will be for an M40i I have on order w/3AC.

I'm curious -- do we need an RF controller for the X3 or are you doing that to simplify install? I know the factory hitch has the 7-pin connector already and I'd suspect somehow BMW has a place to tie in a brake controller even if you have to run a couple wires manually.

Last few vehicles I have owned, I was able to buy a harness adapter to connect my Prodigy P2 under the dash but I don't see an adapter listed for the X3 (figures).

Been searching this topic all day, can't find anything on the G01 except one person who used the above controller. It's pricey but would be a very easy install and would move from vehicle to vehicle. Plug and play.

Unless I hear otherwise, I'd assume that you can just wire the brake controller in a normal way but the unknown is where you can tap into the wiring that goes to the 7-pin connector on the hitch. Worst case you'd have to run wiring from the controller back to the 7-pin connector and tie in there. Would not be hard but would be a project to tuck the wiring in out of the way.

Agree, I've used the Prodigy P2 controller for years on several other GM/Chrys vehicles.
Always a DYI install, but this being a lease, I do not want to tear into it very deep. And that is why I'm asking what others have done.

Did you notice in the online VIN Decoder... If you did NOT option the 3ac hitch, then "S8SLA - Trailer coupling prep" will appear in the Standard equipment.
I wonder what that is? Some pre wiring or hard parts?

I use the radio controller on my M40 with adaptive suspension and 19" tires. It works great and no need to tear into the car.

I measure about 15.5 inches to the center of the hitch from the ground.

I did see that and wondered. Probably means all the wiring is in place so that the factory hitch harness is just a plug in. On other vehicles, I have ordered the factory harness and used that to simplify install of a third-party hitch.

I imagine if you poke around under the rear of the X3 or in the spare tire we’ll, the hookup Is there.
