BMW Labs

I stumbled upon this: https://labs.bmw.com/ while trying to find if there are any public APIs available for BMW. A particular interesting one is IFTTT integration and BMW specific applets.

Has anyone tried it yet? I am still exploring but I am pretty sure there would be some interesting hidden gems here. It's just odd that the support for IFTTT reads "BMW vehicles built between 07-2013 and 10-2015".

I wasn't able to get it to work. Contacted BMW, and they said it's discontinued and doesn't work for anyone anymore. Not sure if that's true, but that's what they told me.

Correct, no longer supported.

that's a bummer! Would have been nice if there was a way to extend the functionality. I also figured out that BMW has now secured their API access by using a certificate which means that 3rd-party apps cannot extend or provide any functionality. I assume, this is to make the subscription model work exclusively with BMW Connected app.

Interesting analysis; that's actually quite likely
