Dynamic Damper Control in the M35
Greetings:
I am close to placing an order for the M35. If anyone out there has one withe Dynamic Damper Control I would like it hear some pros or Cons. My local SA was not high on the option but then he was really trying to get me to buy a car off the lot and unless there is a huge compelling reason not to, I plan to order and do PCD. This is the last item I need to decide on before negotiating my deal (10K lease). I look forward to any comments about the option. Thanks in advance |

I have it and would definitely recommend, being the car sits a bit higher than a traditional vehicle u want the best handling possible. The only con u may hear is the lack of 20 rims option but as I like the 19s better and would not want the larger rims its no issue to me

I optioned the DDC on my X2 with 19 inch wheels. Haven't received the car yet, but this is what I found after doing some research :
1. there are two settings. The 'sport' mode is apparently similar in stiffness to normal MSport suspension. The 'comfort' mode is a little softer. 2. these are selected from the existing switch that's used for selecting throttle response (ECO, COMFORT, SPORT). But if you want, I think you can unlink the suspension from the throttle through menu settings 3. the car will ride at MSport height (i.e. 10mm lower than stock) 4. The X2's DDC is a relatively simple version when compared to higher-end BMWs. The X2's DDC is just a valve component that moves on the shock, altering the flow of damping fluid/gas which then makes the damper firmer or softer. It does not dynamically react to actual road conditions and alter damper settings reactively, like the higher-end systems do. The one downside was that I could not opt for the 20inch wheels...for reasons that the dealer and the so-called "Genius" still cannot provide! Bottom line: go for it

Crap was hoping to see some info as well... Going to check out some tomorrow and usually they push for ones there obviously. Only one out of 7 has the ddc. I'm surprised because the option is like $500 .. If rather get it than wireless charging!

interesting..the DDC option in Australia was about AUD400, which is only roughly USD300.... so for once, something's cheaper downunder
It did surprise me that according to the salesperson not many people opt for it. Could be that they prefer the 20" wheels instead. Got me wondering whether there were any negatives of having the DDC...

Honestly threw the car at some nice S curves going a good 45mph at least. There was not a HUGE difference with the roll, there was a HUGE difference in the sound/power of the sport mode.. dang I think I'm going to end up getting this car...

I skipped the dynamic dampers. I have coil-overs on my M3 so even in sport mode, the X2 rides more cushy than I would prefer, so I would never drive it in "comfort" mode, anyway.
I also ordered the 20" wheels, which I'm kind of regretting, because there aren't any tires of the same size available other than the OE tires (at least last time I looked) and I really dislike run-flat tires. |

I would suppose you could add it.. but yes you need different struts first.. then you would need the electronic modules that turn the dampers. Certainly worth the $500 upgrade when purchasing, but after the fact it would certainly go way over that amount.

Can you program Idrive to recognise the adaptive dampers if they're fitted after market?
