Technocraft M3 Envy Charger DIY
So on last weekend, my buddy helped me to install the charger. He is the mechanic at the local dealership. Such a great friend
Sockets and Bit that you need: Here we began to take out all the screws around the Air Box Cover: Took off the Air Box Cover: Untight the screws on the Air Box: Unplug the pipe that connects to your charger: Untight the rings on both side of your cahrger: Pull out both rings and the connecting part in the end: Removed the connecting part and both rings onto your CF Envy Charger: Plug your charger back in and the pipe that connect to your charger. Make sure you tight up both side's ring: And then put back all the Air Box Cover and the screws that you took out. Here is what it looks like with the final work: Last edited by Johnny Lin; 11-04-2009 at 03:23 AM.. |

Aside from those comments, can carbon fiber be tighten by clamps? Last time I check, carbon fiber is solid, not soft like silicone hoses.

I have the same charge pipe and before installation, electrical tape was applied to both ends of where the Tecnocraft charge pipe attaches. It acts as a dustshield and about 1 layer around should create a very snug fit. I've been running this for a couple of weeks already and it seems good. For the skeptical ones, there have been dyno's on this product already. Chargepipe alone creates +14 hp while the whole system creates a total of +18hp.

You wont be able to tighten them up as tight as the OEM one. But they are still in a great shape. As ooowowizstev said, you can always use the electrical tape and it just be fine |

They haven't posted AFR (to my knowledge) in the other thread. So the question is - where does the power come from and does the ECU adapt to negate a large portion of the increase?

I'm pretty sure this mod does not add any horsepower (and if so from the 1 pound weight reduction from the OEM piece, it shouldn't be a day and night difference ). However, to each his own, This added piece does make the undercarriage look better IMO, but I'm not willing to fork money for it I'd save it up for something like putting it towards something else.

Couldn't you just have added another sticker somewhere, and bought your mates a round with the leftovers?

Does it have to be CF? Is there a plastic one available?

Does the charge pipe change the sound at all? That thing looks massive compared to stock.

I cant speak for just the charge pipe as I have the full system. There is a noticeable difference in sound. I ran my car without Envy with an AA filter and with Envy with both a AA and MS Filters. Both sound great with the Envy system!
