R.I.P Henry Surtees. One year on
Son of F1 world champ Sir John surtees died today a year ago in a freak F2 accident at Brands Hatch.
Henry was only 18 years old. I remember John and Henry from my karting days. Often had chats with them. A lovely pair of guys. I was ever so sad when he died. His father survived through a time in motorsport when safety wasn't considered and motorsport was very dangerous only to lose his son at such a young age in modern motorsport where safety is a major factor now. RIP Henry.

I remember that accident, reminded me a bit of how I felt when Senna went, so much talent just stolen away in a complete 1-in-a-million moment. Everybody spoke really highly of him, he seemed like a really nice guy.
Sorry for you that you knew him and it's personal, Carl. |
