Is this a speed camera?
Old Oak Lane, London NW10 (Kensal Green) near the bridge over the railway line, saw a speed camera type which I have never seen before.
It is overhead mounted, looks like a cut down ANPR camera. Do you know what it is? Appears to be just a single small diameter cylindrical unit. Can't see a flash, can't tell if there is a separate radar unit and camera or if it is really a speed camera - but there is a large sign saying "Speed Camera" just before you reach it. Looking straight at it the inside is reflective red colour. See pics links below: Pics - overall view Close up Advisory sign Underneath the advisory sign there is this box; it does not appear to be wired into anything - but is it a radar? (box is also visible on the advisory sign pic, under the sign) |

Could be either an ANPR unit or average speed camera (if there is another down the road).
It does however look like the latest ANRP's though

Yer some form of ANPR. VEry common on the A4 and around Hounslow/Heathrow. Seem to monitor trucks breaking the emissions route and also monitor traffic flow (for dodgy plates) in and around the area.
Often have 2 cameras of the same design for a 3 lane road. |

Drive past them at 100mph, within a few days you should find out if it's a speed camera or not.
