Bugatti Veyron..........how they make it

Says it's a new programme, but tomorrow at 9.00pm on National Geographic channel, a behind the scenes exposé of how they build this engineering masterpiece.

So, those who watched it, what did you think?

I know the price tag is subjective, but having watched the programme I was pretty amazed by the overall production process, use of aircraft technology, titanium parts etc.

Bloke at work was around Liverpool way and went for a nosey down the streets where some of the premiership footballers live and happened to notice parked in one driveway was not one but two Veyrons!

I thought it was amazing. I think the 1.4million or so they charge is pretty cheap considering what they do to make it. never mind all the r and d to get it the the production stage.

its a masterpiece.

And if you were wondering yes i was very drunk indeed when i made my first post..sorry.

The narrator got a few things wrong.

It does not do 0-250mph in 17 secs.
It does however do 0-186mph (300kph) in 16.6 secs.

Fantastic car. Hope no one bothered running their own car in.

I was a bit disappointed with the programme to be honest. I thought it was going to be mega geeky and actually show us some interesting stuff, more like mega-factories.

Instead, there was probably 10 minutes if genuinely interesting footage, surrounded by adverts, boring tracking shots and benile commentary.

I am, when it comes to cars (amongst other things) a total geek, 100% nerd.

I believe that the only people likley to watch that programme are also self-confessed car nerds. So why not make it proper nerdy?

Why create a television show in a bid to appeal to a broad spectrum of people when, quite obviously, only a very small percentage of them will tune in? Make a nerds programme for nerds, not a nerds programme for everyone.

Frankly, unless you had never heard of the Veyron before you would struggle not to be patronised for 40 minutes of the programme.

Disappointing.
