Did your f10 with new combox come with a Y cable?

Because mine did. I read on bimmerfest that the new combox f10 doesn't come with a Y cable. Now its making me wonder if I have the new Combox. I just picked up my new 535ix (stock purchase) and I had a Y cable included. Haven't tried the regular apple USB cable yet.

One problem I'm having is I can't get the album art to show. Can anyone help?

Also I can stream music over Bluetooth but I can't change tracks. If I can stream over Bluetooth does that mean I for sure have the new combox?

Showing Album covert art in the IDrive display only works with the original Apple / USB cable, not with the (BMW) Y-cable. At least in my f10.

* iPod One-wire integration: No longer will an iPod connection require the “Y-cable”. The original iPod USB cable is all that is required to connect the device to the vehicle. This simplifies the connection by not requiring the aux-input. The music is transferred directly from the iPod digitally to the HiFi system via USB. Therefore as of September, the Y-Cable will no longer be included with iPod/USB Adapter (6FL).

Most dealerships aren't aware of the change or the implication of the change; so many would throw in the Y-cable anyways. Which iPhone do you have and which iOS are your running? Some claim that you need iOS 4 or above to work.

I just tested with the Apple USB cable and was able to get the album art to work now. With split screen, I see a larger version of the album art on the right. So I guess i have the new combox. So the Y cable cannot transmit album art for some reason.

But somehow I still can't control track changes when streaming with Bluetooth.

I have an iPhone 4 on ios 4.01.

Update your iPhone to 4.1 or 4.2.1.
You would gain the track forward/backward function.

Unfortunately, Apple only implemented the v1.0 of the AVRCP bluetooth profile (which allows the above function) in iOS 4.1+. [sigh] My windows mobile phone had this profile 5 years ago!

If Apple had implemented the v1.3 AVRCP, we would have song/track listing. BMW would implement v1.4 in April next year, and if Apple does the same, we would be able to browse the song list using bluetooth streaming. But with Apple's way of doing things, we may have to wait another 5 years
