I couldn't find a newbie intro thread so I'll put it here. I'm an owner of a 2009 black 335i X-Drive sedan. I've been lurking around this site, but only now found the time to register. I've been shopping around for a new set of wheels since the Chicago roads destroyed my 189's this winter. I've decided on getting VMR VB3's in 18". I've been debating on if I should keep the staggered set-up or do the square. I don't want to do any additional work to the fenders or suspension. Is it better to keep it staggered or should I do the square? Also, will the TPMS from my 189's work with the VMR's without any addiotional parts? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Our VMR VB3's are offered in a direct bolt-on fitment for your vehicle. No modifications or aftermarket hardware will be required. Our wheels can accept OEM TPMS as well.

You'll want to look into a 8.5 +40 front and a 9.5 +45 rear.

Thanks for responding. So a square set-up is not recommended? I'd prefer to maximize the tire life, but I'm not sure if this car has uneven tire wear.

I use a square setup of the same rims on a 2010 328 (non x drive). My tires are 235/40/18 conti's dws. If you go with this setup, you will probably find that the back will need a spacer to make it more flush with the wheel well. PM me if you want pics.

You can run either, if you are after maximum tread life, then I suggest squared. I'd recommend a set of spacers for the rear as they will be tucked in on a square setup.

You definitely can run a squared setup on the car and it actually is pretty common. The setup that would work best is the 18x8.5 ET40 with a 235/40/18 all around. I'll go ahead and shoot you over a PM so we can discuss this in a bit more detail!

If you wish to receive the most mileage out of your tires along with wide rear stance, I would suggest going with the square route with a rear spacer.

Concavity will be different between our 8.5/9.5/10" VB3's.

I always recommend mounting the wheels and measuring the distance between the tire and fender to be absolutely sure but 15mm or 20mm spacers should work for the rear.

About a 15-20mm spacer can work.

The VMR VB3 Hyper Black 18" staggered setups are currently on national back order. However, I do want to let you know that the bulk of the next container shipment that is due in April from VMR is allocated for our inventory specifically. I'll go ahead and drop you a PM with more details about this.
