Urgent: Tire Pressure
Randomly came on, I pulled over to investigate and it's fine. Front 29 rear 32. Put a little over to make sure.
I followed instructions to reset and it goes away for 7 seconds and comes back. I'm out of warranty... What's next?... BMW 325i 06

it is time for new tpms. These things only work for so many years before they need replacing. I think their life span is 5-7 years

i think it's safe to drive. you checked the pressures, remember? lol

Proceed home carefully. It's only a tire pressure warning and you've confirmed the pressure is actually okay-ish (although 29/32 sounds low to me, I run 32/37).
You don't have to sit on the side of the road for that. Probably a glitch or busted sensor. |

I'm now 35/40 just to be safe. Nothing is leaking. Today right after I let my new gf drive car like a fucking Miami maniac it comes on hours later.
How much am I spending guys? Can I do sometime other than BMW dealer? Don't have an arm or leg to spare right now.

tpms really isn't a big deal. are you still on runflats? its just to alert you if your tires are low since you can't visually see it on runflat tires.
if money is tight, then its just an annoying noise and dash light. |

TPMS batteries generally last 7-10 years.
Here's what I suggest. Fill tires to 40psi all around when cold. Cold means not driven more than 1 mile after sitting overnight. Reset system. If light comes on again then check all pressures - again when cold. If the pressures changed then you have a leak. If not, then the system is defective. Hit any major potholes or have you had any bodywork done recently? |

Miami roads are fucking disgusting. I did run over some bad ones today.
No body work. I'll do the cold pressure in the morning. And measure any leaks. I don't know if I have run flats. It says bridgestone. Factory ?

There are NO TPMS sensors attached to the rims for 2006 3 series. At least not in my 2006 Xi. If you read the manual, it says that it's a FTM system, Flat Tire Monitor. The system does a relative measurement of tire pressure based on the pressure when you initialized last time. I spoke to a tech at my local Discount Tires who confirmed this. You can basically have your tires at 20psi and initialize the FTM and there would be no warning. I'm not sure of the threshold however. What I do when I swap between my summer and winter tires is to pump the tires to 35psi, re-initialize, drive away, and make sure I don't get the tire warning light that's it. I was told the warning would not come on until the pressure deviates for more than 10psi of what you originally set at, again, relative to what you initialized the system at. So I pumped my tires at 35psi, I wouldn't get a warning until 25psi.
Re-initialize again I recommend. TPMS or FTM are both useless mechanisms to me. I set it just so the warning doesn't come on. I religiously check my tire pressure every 2 weeks even during the summer to avoid blow out due to high road surface temperature. I've never blown a tire within the last 15 years due to over-inflation or under-inflation. |

So how do I set pressures to 35psi?
When I go to: reset ( ! ) And push it in it goes away and comes back.

Yes 06 do not use 4 in wheel tire sensors, they use the ABS Speed sensor to determine a difference between the rotation of one wheel vs the other to determine if it is low and trip the warning.
Just reset it, and be on your way, you could have a nail in your tire slow leak, take it to a Americas Tire and they will patch it for free. |

scroll to reset, select reset, release button, press a second time and hold down until checked box appears. i think the vehicle must be stationary to access this, but maybe not.
if you measured the pressure yourself and verified ok, why panic? |

Honestly if you have an e90 325 which was only made in 2006, there isant tpms in it. You can tell by your valve stems. if its just a black rubber piece then u have no tpms. If its metal with a bolt looking type thing on it then you have tpms
