Respect to those with 19s

I just put 18s (From 16s) on my car with 225/40 255/35 tires; car looks great but I got mad respect for you guys with 19s.

Didn't anticipate the how much the tires would track uneveness in the road, or the increased steering effort (To say nothing of, I think my car is noticeably slower, serves me right for getting a 323), or the rougher ride.

Couldn't imagine getting 19s.

I guess you got original BMW rims with runflats.

...funny, mine doesn't feel that way at all. If anything it's a bit more harsher on impacts, but you learn to drive conservatively on bad roads you should be fine. Steering is better now that the runflats are gone. must be your type of tires or runflats causing your ride issues.

I swapped from my 17 inch winter rims to 19 inch summer. Every single year the change in steering, slow down in accel (thanks to much more unsprung weight) and more pronounced understeer catches me by surprise. It takes about 2-3 weeks for me to be come comfortable again with the car.

Haha yeah I did. Trust me when their time is up I'm switching to conventional tires.

Yeh that will be an improvement in ride quality and the steering feel will be better. Typically you can expect to save around 2lb of weight per tyre when you swap over.
