Volk TE37 discontinued for BMW. Any other strong and light alternatives for e90 LCI ?

Hi,

It seems stupid to me to discontinue such a nice wheel, but Volk discontinued the TE37 for BMW fitment. They had a 42mm rear offset available for the 9.5 width which was absolutely perfect for e90 LCI. Now they have the VR.G2 with a 37mm rear offset or some TE37SL with 1-series offsets. None of those fit an e90 LCI (which is 8mm wider in the rear track compared to pre-lci).

Any other alternatives for a strong, lightweight wheels for BMW e90 LCI, in 18" ?

Get the pcd 114.3 and have them redrilled to 5x120 if you really want them.

I thought the VR G2 was supposed to be the redesigned "replacement" for the TE37.

For something a little different, you may want to look at the Advan F15. In 18x8 and 9 they weigh less than 19lbs.

Also the Advan RZ-DF, although they only make a 18x8 and 18x9 in your offsets. They're both just 17lbs.

They make the Advan RS in the exact sizes and offsets you're looking for. Of course I'm particularly fond of the RS for obvious reasons. Truth be told, I've been running them over 4-1/2 years for almost 30,000 miles (including 10 track days) without any issues at all. They aren't forged, but have held up nicely in the streets of PA and on the track. You're not paying forged prices either. The fronts weigh less than 17lbs and the rear just over 18lbs.

It's a shame they don't make the F7 in your offsets.

Thanks, I think that when the time comes I will be going with 18" Advan RS. The weight is actually the same as Volk TE37, or (very) slightly more.

I wonder if these wheels could usually be found in stock or does one have to wait months for a set to arrive from Japan ?

Wow, interesting concept (not that I would rush to have it applied on a set of $3000 wheels) ! But anyway in my country I wouldn't trust anyone to do this kind of stuff.

Bad bad idea... Redrilling wheels is not advisable.

Yep. Every year bbs goes bankrupt and volk stops making te37. Yet every year all bbs wheels are in stock and there is a new special edition te37

Seriously I only voice my opinion from personal experience not the "he said that she said that had a bff that said". With that said, I redrilled my 114.3 to 120 ($3,500 wheels) and not one issue after 27k miles.

I read about steel inserts in the wheel holes and other stuff related to re-drilling, I would be really worried to run such a wheel at the track or drag strip.

I suppose it can be done, no doubt. But really, I don't want the most unique wheels on the market. As long as there are some alternatives, I prefer those.

Advan RZ-DF's is something to really consider... Gorgeous looking wheels, especially in Matte Black.
