Limp mode on the second lap. Sorry but the S85 would not have gone into limp mode. This sounds like the same old 335i issues creeping up.....which is fine on an ///M5 as most won't see much track time, but if this is the basis for building the engine for the new ///M3, that is VERY troubling.
Cheers, e46e92

Now whether the M5/6 get an LCI update with a corresponding power boost to match the GC when it comes out is the proper question ![]()

I think that's fine since not a lot of M5 owners go to the track anyways. Definitely something to think about...

"but both going into limp mode tells me how worthy they are of being true track cars."
No other review has mentioned anything similar, so I would not jump to conclusions based on one review....I’m not saying these are ideal track cars, but I read an article where M engineers said the F10 can go through 2 tanks of gas at race speed on the ring(25+ laps) before, any type of heating issue would be of consideration. Also BMW M has done massive multi day endurance test with the M6 on the ring. So for cars their size I would say they are more suited to the track than anything else of comparable size/weight. |

That was the most boring video I ever watched.
Looks like both vehicles have some pretty sore spots with limp mode. It'll be interesting to see if that happens when Top Gear gets their hands on them. |

Everyone should know by now that Bmw is best handling/track and Merc is best straight line. Bmw needs to put their heads together to make a powerful super car. My big bros C63amg owns me no matter what even at 19 psi. When he took my car to the track. He said it handles way better than his. Case closed on my end.

Maybe its just me, but they really could have "jazzed" up the exterior of the M5....it really is not that distinguishable from the basic 5 series disappointing (to me)
