Need help deciding Hankook/Conti/Bridgestone/Others

Hey Folks:

E92 sports pack. needs new tires. Never track car. Non-run flat. Need to optimize:

-price
-tread life
-noise
-performance

Based on tire rack reviews/specs I narrowed it to Conti DW or Bridgestone Potenza. They are close in price and have the same tread ware rating. I have heard good and bad about hankooks, but really like the \"high-value\" description about it. Would like to see your informed opinions on what you would choose. Also, I live in Northern Cali and never see snow and hardly any rain. Just gets cold 30 degrees in winter. Brrr

The conti dw tires will not work as well in colder temps (just like any other performance summer tire), but the dws tires should keep you truckin in cold weather and even in light snow!

Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires are a great all-season to look into. They're pretty quiet, offer good performance for everyday driving. For a summer tire I think Hankook Hankook Ventus V12s would suit your needs.

I'd stick with summer tires given the weather you have in Sacramento.

The Conti DW's are softer than Michelin PSS's, especially during the break-in period, but once they are fully broken in, they are pretty good tire. They are firm without being harsh, pretty quiet and much lighter than RFT's (30 pounds for a set of 4 on my E90 with ZSP). If you want the best performance, the PSS's seem to be the way to go.

I have also been looking and would rate my needs as same as yours, for a summer tire. The Coni DW is still atop my list. Even though handling is not the best- as far as performance, they are the lightest tire.

Interesting. What about Bridgestone? Bridgestone and Conti seem very similar, though the pole position style is cheaper.

I was pricing the Hankooks V12, Conti DW and Potenza RE760. As it turns the price is the same for Hankooks V12 & Conti DW's but the RE760's run 100 bucks less.

So what do you guys think? Save 100 bucks and go with RE760 or spend 100and get Conti or Hankook?

Btw, I don't plan on tracking my car and I never push the car's handling limits so the Michelin PSS are not being considered.

How about Yoko Advans ? Also available as runflat ZPS. I've read that they are quite good. Also for a great affordable summer UHP tire for great handling: Sumitomo HTRZ IIIs, the third gen HTRZ - great tires

I've had them on two of my cars. I think would be a great choice considering your repective priority list. Of course I think for the best flat out pure handling on the street Dunlop DZ101 Star Specs or Michelin Super Sports are king of the hill right now.

The HanKook V12 is pretty good, low noise on road..Very recommended! I'm running it with the Avant Garde M359
