Michellin Pilot SuperSport narrow or wide?

Does anyone know if Michellin Pilot Super Sport run wide or narrow? I am interested in 265/30/19 for rears but i dont know if I should go with 265s or 275s cuz of rubbing issues?

I have 9.5" rim so I can fit any. Does anyone have pics of 265 and 275 on 9.5" rim?

To me it looks like they run a bit wide, but not as wide as the PS2.

I'd say on the wide/square side. I have 19x9.5's in the rear and just swapped my Advan AD08's for Supersports (no picts yet) and I'd say the SS's are very close but not quite are wide as the Advans - and the Advans were very wide for a 265. With +35 offset I'd have to adjust the suspension up with 275's - definitely.

These are older picts but notice the taper on the top of the oem wheel/tire and how square the Advans are in contrast. The SS are about the same. Also consider how the oem is a 255 on 8.5" rim and these are only 10mm wider on a 1" wider wheel.

They're on the wider side and the shoulder is more square than PS2. I've had both

They seems to be a bit wider than the Falken XE912s they replaced. I get a hair of rub on my 265/9.5 on the right side. I had none with the other tires.

That's why they feel almost as stiff as RFT's, thus the superior cornering capabilities.

As of this morning, the PSS is definitely a wider tire. Michelin has incorporated more of a broader shoulder to help protect the wheel rim from curb damage. I had 275/30/19 PS2, now my car wears 265/30/19.

If you go 275, you more than likely will get more rubbing (more on the right) compared to the PS2 versions.

Did you go with 265 cuz of rubbing issue? Which rim ET did you have?

Yes, I have the PSS 265/30 on now, and it much better. No rubbing at all. My BBS are ET25. If ran with 275/30 (beefy tire shoulder), I would have gone to Wheel Techniques in Santa Clara and had them machine 5mm off the hub face to promote out side shoulder tire clearance. For me, going with the 265/30 was the best way to maximize tire clearance without machining the wheels.

BTW, so far the tires are quieter than the PS2. Grip and handling level, I will report later.

My rims are BBS CH-R with ET35. Do you think 275 would rub?

I expressed my experience on a similar topic thread:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...1#post11060261

You right there on the boarder. By no means am I a tire professional, but my experience tells me that you could do it if you consider some of my point stated below:
  • The wheel liner step lip which meets at the fender may cause the right rear tire to momentarily rub with the 275/30 on. Is this OK with you?.
  • What type of spring setup are you on? Anything lower than Sport Package height, you may hear some rubbing.
  • Could you afford to machine the interior wheel's hub face 4-5 mm off to promote tire clearance?
  • Have you rolled your fenders?

So think about that.

At the end of the day, I didn't want any more hassles. So I went the 265/30 route. Plus I did not want my wife to ask me, "What's that noise"?!!

Thanks! Good points, it all indicates that I should go with 265s then. I am not lowered but I plan to go with KW V1s in spring, I also dont wanna mess with things such as rolling fenders or modifying hub face.
