Lightbulb Curing Brake Squeal

It's something that has dogged me since my first bimmer. It seems to be a non-deletable factory option for every bimmer. Anyway, as I have changed to the CCB for my M5 last year, I find myself confronted with the age-old enemy once again. In fact, CCBs are notorious for that. Good thing my long history with brake squeal has taught me how to deal with it. I am not sure if it has been shared before, but instead of filing for a patent and make billions out of it, I have decided to share it here with u guys unselfishly

The remedy is pretty simple. While the brakes are cold, spray a healthy dose of wheel cleaner into the brake callipers. You want to get the cleaner onto the pads. Leave it for a few minutes (not hours or days), and hose it all off. Voila...all the squeal is gone. It has never fail to work each and every time with every bimmer I have tried it on. It works much better than even heavy brake bedding, whose effect seem to be temporary. This process may be repeated once every few weeks.

Disclaimer: I do not know what chemical process is going on or if the brake cleaner is chewing up your pads. I just know that it has no adverse effect on the braking performance and works wonders in getting rid of the squeal. Try it at your own risk Not sure if it matters, but I use Meguiars wheel cleaners.

Very cool! Luckily I have not had any brake squeal on any BMW I have ever owned. My F10 M5 has been quiet as a mouse since Day 1. Good to know though.

Yes mine too, NO brake squeal at all, I jet wash my wheels at least once a week while washing the car, never had a peep out of them.

It worked for me in all my years of BMW ownership on all types of brakes.

I'm not sure about this, but I remember it says somewhere in the CCB product information that you should not use wheel cleaner on brakes
