What happens next once you get your production number?

I just put in my deposit on an M4 last week and got my production number and VIR, but I'm not sure which allocation or production week I'm in.

Theres lots of great info on how to track your order once production begins, but I'm unclear on the sequence and timing of events in between.

Any way to look this up based on the production number or on the VIR? If anything, it would be great to just know the right questions to ask my SA =D I had asked when I put in my deposit, but it wasn't entirely clear.

Thanks!

^^Call your sales rep and they will be able to give you all the info you need. For example he/she will give you the production week (or ask for your production week, it will be a number). Then you will have an idea when your car is expected to go into production. Once the car starts production your looking at 6-8 weeks till you get the car

if you have your vin number or production number you can call BMW at 1-800-831-1117 and ask for vehicle production status, then follow the menu and it will give you up to date info on your car

PS: welcome to the forum and congrats on the new ride

Ah will do! I'm actually waiting to hear back from my sales rep for confirmation, but I was hoping there might be some sleuthing I could do until then.

Great, your rep should be able to answer all those questions for you and get you caught up. The toughest part is the wait which sucks for everyone

Why did say vehicle is scheduled with no current production date?

That is what it says to me if I call the number.

Heard back from my sales rep earlier today:
"BMW has confirmed the production date to 7 month 27th week of 2014."

So looks like June 30, 2014 for me. I also get the "Vehicle is scheduled with no production date" message when I call.

Sounds like I won't get a VIN until right before the car goes into production, probably sometime in June in my case?

Now to wait, like everyone else =)

Ask to talk to a rep when you call. I did that yesterday and was told my M3 getting bumped up to end of this week. Congrats!

I plan to do this again today.
When I called BMW last week, I think I got some young intern who wasn't even able to use my production number. I didn't get the impression she knew what she was doing.

I hear all you other guys calling and lucking out with updates

She was clueless but did let me know production sometime by the end of the week and production to be complete in 3-4 weeks and targetting a pickup at my dealer outside of Chicago around the global release.

I questioned another guy who was told production would take 3-4 wks. Production should only take 6-7 days, not close to a month. I wonder if these earlier "customer builds (not the launch cars) are going to remain at the port for some time and then be shipped over for the June 21 debut. Not that it really matters, you'll still get your car before me.

I just called and confirmed production is still wk 25(June 16)...

I'm calling in once a week just to see if there are any changes. Haven't really seen any changes for me, confirmed production week still week 27.

For those of you in North America and financing, at what point do you get your loans officially set?

I would go with PENFED, their rates are quite a bit lower. You can do payment saver which is a balloon loan similar to lease or straight financing. Rate is 1.75%

Anyone try Alliant Credit Union? Rate is 1.74% and anyone can join the credit union with a $10 donation to a charity they are partnered with.

DCU credit has the best rates I have seen 1.24% if you pay electronically and join.

Have you used them for an auto loan before? So no limit on the purchase price? Only requirements really just being a member with decent credit?

For that rate, DCU also requires that you pay electronically through a DCU checking account.
