M5 F10 whining noise on cold start (Video)

Hi everyone,

My M5 is making a whining noise on cold start.
Comes around 1000-1500 RPM.
Higher pitch while accelerating.
Kinda winds down as soon as I lift the foot of the accelerator.
No noise at all when in neutral revving the engine.
Comes around 10th second on you tube video.

Any help will be appreciated.

My 2011 car did exactly the same until oil was warm then went away. I was told it is normal. However, my new 2014 car doesn't do it at all?

My car made/makes a similar sound. Can you hear from the outside? If so it may be an exhaust leak. The dealer had to replace a mounting ring where the downpipes meet the cat back on my car. It worked for a couple weeks but now I hear it again. I will let you know if I find out anything else. Hope this helps...

Just got back from a dealer. Was told it is "most likely" normal.
