Retrofit M Performance Alcantara steering wheel with Race Display

Hi folks,

I just helped my friend to install the captioned part to F10 M5 LCI, but fail.

Because the PIN 11 doesn't exist in the steering column switch cluster.

Anyone tried to install and succeed?

Just want to double confirm my understanding, I need to order a new switch cluster steering column with p/n 61319301906 and follow back to the installation instructions?

That worked for me. The original steering column I had did not have the connector, so the dealer ordered the above and fitted that and no problems then.

I bought a new steering column and 2nd attempted, also failed.

Can you please help to ask your dealer, are there any special procedures need to be carried out before?

The dealer did nothing but follow the install instructions, which are a few posts earlier in the thread. At first there was no connector to connect the power cable for the wheel to, but the revised part had the connector and that's all they did.

I had the same issue! should i get the steering column stated by RJN21 and follow the instructions again? did you do the same or do you have any advice? does the new steering column require coding? hello, I have the same problem once upgrade the Mperformance LED steering wheel on perLCI M5, the display doesnt work, so I have order the new switch cluster steering column to settle that pin 11 issues, I will get it next week and hope steering light on.

Actually the "mode" button on steering also doesnt work, do you know that will be work after installing the new cluster steering column?

In fact, my friend's perLCI M5 just installed the LCI M5 steering and all buttons are workable and no needed to change a new switch cluster steering column, so thats why I'm confusion now : (

To complement this old tread I would like to give my impressions;
Retrofit M Performance Alcantara steering wheel for non LCI before 07/2013
Retrofit kit number 32 30 2 344 136
Kit includes steering wheel, front wheel inlay, wiring harness part number 32 30 7 848 332 already fitted to the wheel and retrofit harness.
List of parts not supplied with the kit:
Switch multifunction buttons part number 61 31 7 849 410
Set of shift paddles rocker switches part number 61 31 7 847 210
Switch unit steering column part number 61 31 9 354 048
Rear cover part number 32 30 7 848 270
Screw set part number 32 30 7 848 333
Air bag part number 32 30 7 845 796

I highly suggest that your dealer make the installation since it needs to be coded to recognize the SZL .
Expect to invest about 4000 bucks.

I did the install also had the pin 11 etc but the rev and temp not working in the steering wheel but when I start the car the demo comes on, but when I rev the the rpm signals on the wheel does wrk as well as the temp.. temp reading 53f for both oil and water temp

Any help will be grateful

I believe that you need to turn on the vehicle and immediately press and hold the left and right buttons. There's a special procedure to basically initialize the wheel, to get it out of demo mode. Then you need to adjust the RPM and such. It's all detailed in the booklet that comes with the wheel.

I just performed this install and found this thread from Google regarding needing to order the steering column switch cluster because of pin 11 issue.
