This test seems to be more for entertainment than numbers.

All that being said...WOW!!! That M5 is a Beast!

Anyone have an english subtitle version?

LOL! In all seriousness I would love to see both cars driven by the same professional driver like Michael Schumacher, on the same track back to back and compare times. Preferably not as hot temperatures lol

+1

I don't know if I can believe all these brash remarks about owning multiple super cars. you join bimmer forums to post 1 comment

anyway...

the M5 is an amazing car but even with its tuning I find it immensely irrational to believe a 4000 lb saloon can keep up with one of the greatest ferraris ever built

I always love watching videos of cars at Yas Marina, it is such a beautiful track. Great video, thanks for sharing!

Not sure why everyone is so surprised

The E60 M5 was already compared to a F430 around mountain roads...

Seriously lmao...

In all seriousness though, the Stig should have been driving the 458. Then the M5 wouldn't have looked sooo darn food

I do not understand German, so do not know if they explained certain circumstances in that test, but the 458 iw WAAY faster on the straights, and corners much better.
On the track that I drive the 458 is about 10% faster at the end of each straight compared to the M5. In fact, the 458 is faster than the GT-R by a significant amount on the straights, but the GT-R is faster on the curves.

M5 - 1/4 mile - 12 seconds at 122-124 mph. G force in cornering .90-.95.

458 - 1/4 mile - 11 seconds at 129 mph. G force in cornering easily over 1 G.
What do u do for work if you dont mind me asking. Clearly im in the wrong field lol. Want to be my new best friend lol.

From watching that video I believe the ferrari needed a Driver Mod. Put Alonso behind the wheel and M5 would be alot further back than it was. That M5 still pulls hard and a nice car dont get me wrong. Was also surprised they didnt use Launch Control on the Ferrari at the start.

I can tell that regarding the circumstances seen in that video, the Ferrari 458 Italia is not worth those 200,000 Euros. ENGINE TEMP is too hot for a car designed to drive the hell out of it. No wonder how most Ferrari engines blow up and end up catching fires. The BMW engine is way more brilliantly engineered for a mid-sized sedan car not designed for tracks.

Well done BMW M!

The ferrari would of been a hell of a lot quicker around the track if the driver wasnt 97 years old.

I have a 2011 458, a highly modified 2010 M3, and a 2013 M5 being build as we speak. All I can tell you is they're all incredible cars and I feel blessed to be in a position to own one of each.

No matter how excited the BMW guys are to see this video, I can personally attest to the fact that the 458 is the most incredible car I've ever driven. I truly love my M3 and currently use it as my daily driver, but to be honest, nothing compares to the visceral feeling, acceleration, soul and sound of the 458. Is it worth $300k? Is it the fastest car out there? Is it the best looking? Who knows?

For those of you that have not spent real seat time behind the wheel of a 458, your missing an incredible experience no matter what car you've driven. Even my buddy who owns an Aventador loves switching cars to experience the difference between the 2 cars.

PS: Can't wait for my new M5 to arrive.

From what I read, I would imagine the difference bet. a ferrari and a BMW would be like difference bet. a camry and a 335i. i am sure that car you got is worth a every penny you put into it.

Yes right and the engine would have blown up too. Can't you read what has been written at 09:15? ENGINE TEMP TOO HOT, with water pressure leaking from the radiator. Does the engine temp become too hot if the driver wasn't driving the $hit out of it?

No offense for those who think Ferrari would have gone faster but think before writing.

+ 1. There was some awful driving going on; barely an apex clipped, wide, messy and the 458 looked like it was at about 7/10ths. This doesn't represent the real test. Check out Nurburgring times... 7:28 v 7:55. Both quick, but this is a better representation of the relative performance of the cars; which is as you would expect - mid engined two seater super car v brilliant four door luxury sedan. I will take one of each please

Imho Overheating the engine doesn't mean quick. Lots of revs won't do you any good if the driver is off line.
