Ah-after the E39 M5..finally the M5 has redeemed itself aesthetically and mechanically. My faith in the M division is back..

I am still confused as to how they can make that claim when the panamera turbo and turbo s are both faster than the cts-v or are those not "production sedans"?

Looks great, but it's still 4 less HP, 50 less lb./ft. TQ, and slower than the CTS-V for an extra $30K (roughly). Doesn't make sense.. This thing should be pumping out 600 bhp and 570 lb./ft. from the factory. Even Dinan got the F10 550i to generate 573 lb./ft.

Read between the lines, It probably
Does have 600hp at the crank. BMW likes reporting hp at the wheels now. I fully expect this to at least tie a cts-v and because of traction both cars may now be at their limits until the AWD m5 is released.

Honestly, I think they missed the mark. It really doesn't do much for me. Nothing new here. Kinda the same old formula....

If it has the same engine as the X5M then I'd be a bit disappointed. It's fun and all but it doesn't sound too good. I have an X5M and the only thing I dislike about it is its engine sound. It definitely lacks the grunt of the M3.

It's funny how everyone is enamored with the color of brake calipers and not noticing that they appear to be 6 piston calipers.

Huh? I wouldn't be so sure... It already surrenders almost 100 ft lbs of torque to the 2012 E63... That torque stuff is kinda important... (as is weight and many other factors). I don't know if I'd be countin' chickens...

Even though this will be a better overall package than the E63 and CLS63 with the V8 bi-turbo of there own, with Performance package, the E63 and CLS63 will be pushing 550 and 590 ft lbs with there own version of 7 spd DCT... I hope the tq loss in the M5 vs the PP E63/cls63 will not be enough to beat it (M5) in a straight line.

If the 1M's underrated numbers mean anything, it's possible we can see this car dyno around 545-550hp to the wheels.

From a marketing point of view that allows for that surprise factor that will get everyone talking about the car.

On top of that, how many times have we seen BMW do lower numbers than the competitors but still manage to crank out the better car.

I have faith.

Since when a BMW have more torque and HP their it's competition? BMW has always been about the whole package. There's nothing new there.

Not even close. Pan TT owns this segment.

Not even in the ballpark.

Quote:
Man, that 494-horsepower Porsche Panamera Turbo you're driving is hot. The best $136,700 you ever spent, eh? Geeze, you even got the $2,440 Sport Chrono Pack Plus, so those 60 mph runs must flash by in 4.0 seconds flat, sometimes less, thanks in no small part to the 567 pound-feet of torque overboost. Damn. There isn't a four-door out there that can even come close. You're the king of the county, sir.

A stop sign appears in the middle of nowhere, and it's time for some safe Launch Control excitement. It would have been nice to opt for the Sport exhaust, yeah, but who needs it? Silly Porsche price-gouging options lists. Pshaw.

But hang on – what just pulled up alongside? Hold on here... another Panamera? And it sounds different. Oh, crap, those 20-inch 911 Turbo II wheels are wrapped in specially concocted performance tires with sidewalls that just read "Michelin." And its got Porsche Exclusive side skirts, thick black-lacquered window trims, and that exhaust. Oh, maaaaaan, it's the Panamera Turbo S you read about. The one with 543 horses and 590 lb-ft of overboost torque. They keep blipping the throttle, too, like they want to play. The whole car is shaking like a bull in the stall at a rodeo. With the specific Sport Chrono Turbo fitted as standard, they say it'll scorch the 60-mph run easily in just 3.6 seconds.

Bit of an exaggeration.

It should comfortably handle a 4S but the TT may be a stretch. This car definitely doesn't have the presence of the Porsche.
