What are your 2014 M5 OEM tiers?

I thought all M5 has the following by default:

Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Front: 265/35R20 99Y
Rear: 295/30R20 101Y

But I just noticed mine came with Pirelli PZero tires. Is this a dealership mistake that I should tell them should be Michelin PSS?

Looks like BMW added the PZeros. I checked Tire Rack and it shows them now as an OEM. Interestingly, the PZeros are more expensive than PSS, even though the Michelin has been proven to be a better tire.

The dealer says it could come with either, depending on what the factory has to put together at the time.

I've also read everywhere that PSS are better tires, I guess I'm stuck with the sub-par PZero until it wears out

I would be really annoyed by this. Fortunately my 2014 has Michelin PSS tires.

PSS here too. Sorry to hear about that. Makes a good excuse to go to the track and use them up =).

Crap shoot. It never came up as an option when I ordered...

Op,

Now you have the PZero, you can be the first to give us your driving impression on them.

Looks like they will wear pretty fast ... 220 vs 300 for PSS

Noise level
Handling/Cornering
Wet/Dry grip

btw, I do hate Pirelli. No care even if they are the absolute best tires in the world

I won't have PSS for comparison, but I'll share my findings in a few weeks
Apparently the tread noise is a little louder based on TireRack reviews.

You still have about 1 month on summers ... after that, the old man winters will have to be on. I put mine on last weekend.

Nice, it's a good weather right now to switch.

Mine are still on order and, again it will be Pirelli tires since I ordered the BMW winter tire package 19" Double Spoke 408M. Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozero2, 255/40R19 100V

I didn't get option on those tires either. I hated Pirelli winter performance on my current Audi, and found Michelin x-ice xi2 to be much better in the snow.

Not here they are not (UK) no way.
PZero's are cheaper. I would not want them on my M5.
PS) I have Michelin PSS
Now fitted Michelin Alpin PA4 winters sports sizes: Front 255/35/20: Rears 275/35/20

I am assuming your winter switch is done @ the bmw toronto. If done elsewhere, be careful on the front & rear as they have different offsets, even though they are square setup. Another blogger here made the mistake as putting the front to the rear and vice versa.

I'm planning on letting the dealer do the switch, will they get this right?
How will this happen if all 4 wheels are the same size all around?

just tell the service advisor as a reminder. Busy time means the tech may think it's the same for all corners.

When it's done correctly, you should see there are enough clearance on all brakes calipers. If not done correctly, you will see the brake calipers may be fractionally almost touching the calipers.

It should not matter, because the rears have more clearance than the fronts, so the wheels have to fit the fronts, so will easy fit the rears.

Best pic yet of the 601Ms.

What kind of cam/lens combo? Love the fisheye effect for shooting cars.

Thanks. They do look good. I like that they are painted too. I did not expect that.

Used a GoPro Hero3

I have never seen BMW randomly choose two tire manufacturers for the same model vehicle.

I have however seen BMW switch tires from type A to type B.

So unless they are choosing one tire for ZCP and one tire for standard M5, I think they just moved on to PZERO.

While PZero's are not bad tires by any means, I do prefer the PSS.. like many others do.

I have the p-zero's on my pcar right now. They're great tires but seem to wear a tad faster than the pss's.

I have late Sept/October build. If that helps. I know stealth was right after me without ZCP and he also received PSS.
