Not sure that I can help, but I'll comment.

Do you have a check engine light, will it pass smog so you can register it?

I bought mine used in 2017 with 60k on the clock. I now have 155k. I don't know if the prior owner did the rod bearings on my M5 or if it was recalled during the original owner's tenure. I never had any smoke issues out of the exhaust. I always use the same Indy in So. Cal that I trust and that's what I'd do. I can't give any solid advice, but good luck.

I'll add that if it were me, if it passes smog in CA, that's good enough for me and I'm most likely not spending multiple thousands on preventative maintenance.
