My M5/M6 replacement oil pump is installed and car is on way back to me
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I hope this brings a measure of relief to those of you affected by the recall. UPDATE 10/2: Great news. My M6 oil pump has been replaced! The vehicle is being delivered to my office as I write this. What a relief! I hope all of you have similar smooth and seamless recalls. There is hope after all. I am getting the car back earlier than expected. All I can say is hang in there and good luck to all. Only 11 days from recall notification to return delivery of the vehicle with completed recall service. Given the severity of this recall, I am very impressed with BMW and my dealer. |

I assume so. Otherwise he would not have come to pick up the car. There would be no point as the agreement was I'd keep it in my garage. If we held it at the dealer he would have had to take it in and out of their service garage. Plus I could be assured it was safe. On the other hand we'll see.

I just posted an update on my thread from Friday. Just received notice from my dealer that they have my replacement pump in their hands! Just need to get my car delivered from the VPC for the install.

Great news!! I spoke to my rep today and my pump has been shipped, and the part has to be matched to your VIN. They have allocation priority list, and they are trying to have my car repaired at the VDC vs. the dealer. They ball is rolling boys, and my car arrived on the Toronto so timing is perfect as I was expecting my car mid October anyway.

Reminds me of Scottie from Star Trek where he always underestimated his capability to look good. Looks like BMW is taking this very seriously. I just hope the dealer does not screw it up. I use a dealership one hour away because my local dealership has abysmal service. Fortunately, they are usually very good. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I got the feeling my dealer was clueless until this morning when the pump showed up in the mail. I honestly do not think they had any warning or prior notification. Still it is hopeful.

The dealers have been notified, and they are good at selling cars and that's it my personal opinion. I have written only to BMWNA, and the Munich head quarters to voice my concerns very professional no demands what so ever. As parts come in they should be assigned to specific cars, and my CA is been wonderful by providing me updates. I would say some are better than others, but I have learned if you make demands, and irate it will not be smooth. The dealers were sent all the information, but it's like email who reads all the details when you have a gazallion of them. I suggest you call your CA to see where your car is on the allocation list. Hope that helps.

I wrote an even-tempered email to BMW NA requesting information, and then had a civilized call with the gentelman to whom my email was forwarded. He was happy to share whatever information he had since I treated him respectfully. He noted that he'd had a few calls last week on which he "heard more four letter words than he knew existed." He didn't seem to enthusiastic about helping those individuals out.

Client advisor at BMNA, another poster stated the fact they all have cars assigned to them for handling. My CA called me first and left me a message, and when I called back we discussed my expectations, and I let them know this was my sixth BMW, it was a cash buy and they took if from there. But I do caution anyone making threats or lawyer talk they will shut down. I work for a major corporation, and when I receive threat letters I send them to legal and I will not call back I let the lawyers handle. BMW will out live all of us, but I do feel they are doing the right thing to get supply to help us all.
