Has anybody found a 19" aftermarket wheel for the M5
As above. I have to start seriously shopping for a winter set up and the only guaranteed fitments seem to be 20" wheels. Has anybody successfully mounted a 19" wheel on the F10 M5 and cleared the brake caliper? It's obviously possible given that the stock wheels are 19 x 9.0 front, 19 x 10.0 rear.

The main reason I was able to get in contact with the BMW exec to get the recall update I posted was because my CA had asked BMW NA to confirm if my OEM E63 M6 wheels winter setup will work on the F10. Part of my follow up call on Monday will be with the engineer on this topic. Will let you know if this is an option once I confirm, but so far all the measurements seem to suggest it will work. May just need to add spacers so the spokes clear the calipers.

I just purchased the OEM Style 408M 19 inch rims from BMW. They cost me $510 per wheel, plus $20 shipping. No tax, since I purchased out of state. These are the BMW winter wheel setup.

OEM is probably the best way to go
I spec'd the 19's as oem for exactly this reason of ease of use for snow tire application. I figured I'd have a wider choice of 20" rims (for non-winter) use as compared to the limited or nonexistent choice of (less preferable) 20" snow tires. Actually the oem 19's ride and handling are not bad, still weighing the pros and cons of 20's for non-winter use.........

I had custom ordered a set of Forgeline GA1R (exact offset spec as the bmw stock 345M wheel) back in early August and I had asked the wheel manuf. to ensure the M5 has a massive front brakes (bigger than Corvette & Porshce but smaller than Ferrari) and they would need to do their homework to make sure their wheels will clear before production is to start.
Guess what, wheels were made and delivered to my wheel shop and they were test fitted to the front first. Result, they do not clear the front brake caliper and the brake caliper pushed the wheel off centered from the hub. Luckily, I had stipulated on my order that I get my full money back if the wheels don't fit properly. Otherwise, I would be stuck with a $5000+ coffee table. My wheel shop said the contour construction of the inner barrel is very important and even they were caught off guard the custom wheels did not fit. Since then, it would seem like BBS & HRE wheels may be the only current wheel manuf can fit their 19 on the M5. btw, I have since ordered a set of 19" bmw stock 345M wheels. |

Wow, sorry to hear about the Forgeline problems. I know the Forgeline guys who are local to me and hope they can correct things as I will be looking to them for upgrades in the 20" size...

Why not pick up a set of the F10 M5 19" stock wheels?

When you are going to deal directly with Forgeline, you can ask Steve Schardt about the GA1R wheels to see if they have since looked into the fitment problem. He offered no solution to 19" problem and resulted of my cancellation & refund of my order.
Perhaps, 20" wheels may have no issue. Better do your homework. |

hi
we are a distributor for Brock alloy wheels; Owning a M5 F10 myself I prefer to have good wheels on my car; I am happy my supplier will have one wheel that technically fits for the M5; I am pro'lly the worst photoshopper on this board but here a bad impression of the wheels on my car:: |

I guess not necessarily ... take my case for example (see above post & feedback), thus far, I see IND's 19" BBS FI wheel is the only fitment thus far. But then I cannot afford to buy $8000 set of wheels ... + tires, the whole thing would be $10K.
The bottom line is the inner barrel design has much to say of proper fitment or not. |

Not an offset issue.
I used the bmw stock 19" 345M style offset number and width of the front & rear wheel and ordered the exact offset & width to Forgeline, thus avoiding any offset issue. |

Interesting fact on the BMW stock 345M style rims.
The front: 19 * 9 is made by BBS and stamped Germany. Entire wheel is clear coated. The Rear: 19 *10 is made by Cromodora and stamped Italy. Wheel is clear coated ONLY on the rim facing and spokes. How I found out ? I ordered the above set from my dealer a few weeks ago and they came in this past weekend. When I inspected them, I noticed the above difference and the rear have rough finish in the inner barrel whereas the fronts are totally finished in clear coat and very smooth. I have declined to take the rears and have asked the dealer to re-order me two more fronts to be used for the rears. No signficiant issue will result with the offset. |

Given the size of the brake calipers, I just played it safe and ordered a set of the BMW OEM winter wheel style 408 this morning. No, the size of the brake calipers really limits your options.

Does anybody know if the M359 wheel from the M3 ZCP fits on the F10 M5? Will it clear the front brake calipers?

1. The internal diameter of the wheel needs to be well over 18 inches (not sure of the exact measurement). The barrel design for most 19 inch wheels will not fit as alluded to in this thread. 2. The rake of the spokes needs to be sharp enough as they come off the central mounting surface to clear the F10s calipers which protrude forward about two inches beyond the rotor face. If you look at the stock 20" wheels you can see the spokes come off the central mounting surface at almost a 45 degree angle. I was surprised the E63 M6 wheels didn't fit. The barrel of the M6 wheels gets narrower as you move in from the rear of the wheel, and came into contact with the outside of the caliper. Also, the spokes would not have had enough rake to clear the front of the caliper even if the barrel was wide enough. So, not a concrete answer for you, but I would say the evidence suggests a very low probability that the wheels will fit.

Did you receive the wheels yet? I ordered a set but they are currently on national back order right now.
